after you guys graduate, he doesn’t see much of you after that
and even if he does have lots of one night stands, this man struggles with emotional intimacy
whenever he gets lonely he probably entertains the idea of cute lil y/n and what could have been if he wasn’t so shy
when you join the protocol, it’s like he’s seen a ghost
goes right back to that tsundere teenager and probably ignores you
all the other agents warm to you right away tho so you’re naturally annoyed why this guy can’t let go of *whatever* you did to him in high school
on a mission with just the two of you, you finally confront him about his indifference towards you
things boil over and one thing leads to another and

you thought it was cute and never really thought too much of it

and poor jett is so swamped with missions she barely has time to settle down

he was definitely popular in high school but it never went to his head, he just did his thing and hung out at the skatepark

he mostly just admired you from afar, and if you were ever together for group projects, flirted with you lowkey
never anything serious or enough to make you actually realize how he feels
but enough to keep him infatuated
when Brim announces that you guys have a new agent joining the protocol, you do not expect it to be Mateo

you do your best to make him feel welcome, taking him around and introducing him to everyone
you decide one night to take him out for drinks with some of the other agents!!

Yoru
Everyone know's Yoru has somewhat of a big ego, so it was shocking when you two got together.
From your prospective, you found him interesting. How someone could be just so confident in themselves to where they let the whole world know about it?
Somehow though, it brought you comfort knowing there was someone you could stick by and trust.
Yoru on the other hand, was slightly confused when you began hanging around him for no specific reason. Anytime you could you'd be by his side, silent as always.
He found you intriguing, because even though you were always so quiet and shy, he coal always tell what you were thinking by just looking at your face.
Yoru grew to enjoy your presence, and that's how it all started, not to mention knowing you feel safe around him kicks he ego up a notch every time.
Phoenix
Phoenix found you cute the minute he set eyes on you for the first time, he could tell you were shy, and that made you the lot more interesting to him.
He decided the easiest way to get you to warm up to him was to "flirt", or in this case, tease you for being so shy.
And somehow it worked
Eventually you relaxed more around the duelist, feeling more comfortable around him than anyone else.
So when he officially asked you out, it was easy for you to say yes, especially when he began rambling about just how cute you looked when you were being shy, almost speaking with your facial expressions instead.
Chamber
Chamber found you, oddly nice to be around. You were quiet, didn't really speak unless you needed to, and still had a nice presence.
The weapon maker would never admit to his love for company, so when you started working beside him any chance you got, he let you.
He saw you as a friend, at least until he realized there was something more there too.
He knew you felt the same way, he watched you more than you realized, stealing glances when he could, and noticing the little blushes when you two made eye contact.
Everything just seemed to fall into place with you two.

You find a dark blue journal at the stationery store one day. It’s absolutely perfect.
When you give it to him, Yoru is confused.
You tell him it’s so he can write about his life, so it can be passed down to his descendants, so that they’ll never have to search for information about him.
Yoru stares at you deadpan for a second, then looks down at the journal, and back to you. He thanks you, and nods. He’s never good at accepting gifts.
That night as you head to bed, you see the journal on the nightstand, pen tucked in it.

After a rather heated debate on who could rap all the words to Rap God by Eminem, you both ended up at the Karaoke place.
“Now we’ll see who’s truly talented.” said Yoru, rolling his sleeves up.
You chuckled, “it’s not a competition, Yoru. But... your knees are are going to be weak and heavy after I’m done.”
Yoru took that personally, and went to look for the song on the touchscreen supplied to the room. “If I win, you’ll be buying dinner.” said Yoru.
You huffed, “well, if I win, then you’ve got to slow dance with me. You owe me from last week.”
The riftwalker shook his head, laughing gently, “you wish.” he said, pressing the button to put Rap God on. Both of you gave it your all, and saw your scores afterwards as well. Unfortunately, you did lose, and Yoru plopped onto the couch, flipping through a menu.
As he did so, you found an old tune, a favourite of yours that you grew up listening to. It was soft, and perfect for slow jamming- or slow dancing. You put it on, swaying back and forth by yourself. Not a moment later, you heard Yoru put his mic down, and turned around. He linked arms with you, turning as well.
“Yoru?” you asked, a little puzzled.
“What? You gonna dance without me?”
You snickered, “I thought you didn’t like dancing.”
Yoru tried to hide a gentle smile, “I said I didn’t want to dance. Now be quiet.” he said, kissing you as the song continued to play.

The moment Yoru and you enter the gates, he’s tugging you along to get on the first roller coaster he sees.
You’re tugging him back, because there is absolutely no way you are going on one of those… death traps!
Yoru tries to convince you to go on one with him. You manage to get him to go alone, and browse the store while you wait for him.
He returns, big smile on his face. He really enjoyed it, but he’s a bit annoyed that he couldn’t enjoy it with you.
You suggest something without drops, like the arcade shooting ride next door. It’s more tame, and has a shooting aspect to it. Yoru and you sit in the same ride car, and he’s moving it left and right trying to rack up the points. You’re holding onto the sides for dear life.
When the two of you exit the car, you hold onto him, because your head is spinning. That’s when Yoru realizes he needs to tone it down a little. It was your idea to go to the amusement park, and the least he can do is make sure you have a good time.
He makes little suggestions here and there, like watching a stage show (even though he falls asleep on your shoulder because it’s too boring), or an automated dark ride from a movie without drops. Those are more enjoyable, especially since you can do them together.
Every now and then you’ll notice his eyes drift to a scary ride, one with loops, or water guns. You let him go on his own, and watch from afar, trying to get a photo of him at the drop.
One of your final rides of the day is a water ride with a small drop. Yoru is able to convince you to go with him by showing you the drop in the waiting area. It doesn’t look too bad. You go with him, holding his hand the entire time. Yoru squeezes it to make sure you don’t feel pressured. But you want to do this and show him you’re not that weak.
When the drop approaches, Yoru wraps an arm around your shoulder, and you feel for the handles. As you drop, your hands instinctively wrap around him instead. At the end of the ride, you can see your picture. It would be really cute, the two of you holding onto each other- except Yoru has a devilish grin, while your eyes are shut, and your head is buried in his chest.
Yoru buys the photo for $50 dollars with a frame. You hate him.
ooh just read your hc set where yoru shows his partner around tokyo and i was wondering if you could headcanons or something where his s/o helps him find his missing ancestor? tysm!
Yoru is willing to do just about anything to find his missing ancestor. But it doesn’t mean he doesn’t get burnt out, or hit roadblocks from time to time. When he does, he is really appreciative of the care you give him.
He won’t admit it, but although his drive and passion is strong, sometimes he feels like giving up. What if his ancestor is just truly gone? What if all the effort he put in was for nothing? On days like these, you take his hand and tell him even if that’s true, his ancestors would be so proud of him for trying.
When he isn’t burnt out, or on missions, the two of you have research dates! Libraries, museum visits, sometimes breaking and entering into guarded government facilities- you know, just couple things!
Yoru can be such a nerd with all the research he’s poured into this self-imposed quest. He can tell you the history of Japan (also he loves the video), like the back of his hand. Ask him anything, and he’ll get giddy trying to explain it to you. Sometimes he needs to stop himself because he’s all smiles, and very passionate. His little schoolyard bully facade drops. He’s really cute at times like that.
If you tell him though, he’ll snap right back. It makes you wonder why he’s a bit guarded...

He likes that you’re with him. Having a Radiant s/o helps when he has Radiant problems. He can talk to you about them, and not feel alienated because he’s different. It certainly beats the feeling he gets when he tries opening up to Reyna. She doesn’t take any BS when it comes to being Radiant.
He also enjoys training together, because it’s more fun when powers are involved. No matter what yours are, he’s sure to find a way to make things interesting… or difficult.
Yoru is very interested in your abilities. Since he’s looking for a missing ancestor, he started watching you from afar, not wanting to be rude and ask about them.
He didn’t realize how rough your abilities are though. It takes a lot of energy. And sometimes the people who are resurrected become so shocked; whether it’s a time difference, or whatever events that caused them to pass are different… There’s a lot of emotional baggage that comes with resurrection. You save it for when it’s needed most, like on a battlefield.
Knowing this, Yoru has become kinder to you, finally understanding the tough responsibility of being about to give someone a second chance at life.
