Weird how anime just showed Zoro and Usopp on the boat while in manga they are all here but they gave us Zoro being the only one giving space to Nami (when it's everyone in manga)
But in english they made zoro say "maybe she's not coming" while in french he said smtg like ""dw she'll come"" . Also make Sanji "scream" at Zoro while in manga it was at Luffy.
Yes anime giving me same scene (strawhat jumping with moon/sun behind them) in the sun this time + she's jumping and we only see Zoro🤭
One Piece Extra Crew Members and Their Potential Roles: A Non-Comprehensive List
So basically I've been thinking if Luffy decided to recruit everyone he could (that I can think of) and what they'd do on the crew.
Ahem.
Koby: Cabin Boy/Cook's Apprentice
-For whatever reason, instead of saying 'pirates r bad', he basically says 'marines r smelly', so he can't join them. But Luffy's more than happy to have Koby join, if that's what he really wants.
-As Cabin Boy, he has no set job or role, but cleaning, helping out with upkeep, assorted manual labor, etc. He can read a map and compass, tie knots in rigging, bandage cuts, stow cargo, all that jazz.
-Koby seems like he'd be able to kind of cook, because no one else on Alvida's crew could. And once Sanji (eventually) joins, he'd take offense to Koby's less than Baratie-quality cooking, but acknowledge that he's less bad than the others, and Sanji might need help, so. The Radish to Sanji's Eggplant, because pink hair.
-I would give him a KNIFE. Or maybe two. Dual wielding. He can use them for chopping ingredients, and it's more of a self defense weapon as opposed to like. Swords. Lookin at you, Zoro (who does not actually dislike Koby, just Sanji).
-Also maybe throwing knives, because c'mon. They're cool.
Kaya: Nurse
-Kaya wants to stand beside Usopp, and see the open seas after hearing the stories he's told. So, she hops on board the Merry last second. (Merry the butler is in shambles, but ultimately accepts and approves of her decision)
-She's nowhere near Chopper's level, but she's learning fast, and she's better than the others. Zoro and Luffy have no idea what 'first aid' is, while Nami, Usopp, and Koby are collectively decent enough. But Kaya is actually in the 'good' category.
-Sanji tries to flirt with her- once. He gets a pachinko ball up his nose and a firm 'no thank you', both courtesy of Kaya. Usopp is proud and even more in love.
-When Nami gets Kestia'd, Kaya is there to keep her stable, so she's in less bad condition- but they still need that doctor.
-She, being in a shonen, feels a bit useless at some point due to her lack of ability to do more than heal people a bit (from her perspective), but what can she do? The answer is: talk to Zoro and pick up fencing, because somehow Zoro knows some from fighting people who actually practiced it. She's not a frontline combatant, but she can take grunts, and look fancy doing it. Funnily enough, she can't hit the broadside of a Sea King if she had a dozen flintlocks.
Nojiko: Bosun/Quartermaster/Treasurer
-Like hell is she going to let Nami run off on her own. She's like the only one who can balance Nami's greed with rational 'we legitimately do need to spend money on this'.
-She's level-headed enough to keep everyone mostly on track when she needs to, even if trying to convince Luffy to do something he doesn't want to is usually a fool's errand.
-A bit like Kaya, in that she's not a frontline fighter. She is, however, precise with a pistol and nimble with a knife.
-Being able to fight isn't her greatest strength. It's keeping a level head, thinking straight and long-term, and having others do the same. But she can also kick ass.
Johnny and Yosaku: Ship's Guards.
-During Arlong Park, they begin to feel... a sense of dissatisfaction. With themselves, their strength, their goals. They don't have the sheer Dreams of Zoro and Luffy and so on, but... is this enough? Is bounty hunting enough? They decide, no, it doesn't feel like enough. They want to be more, just to prove that they can. And thus, they join the crew, and possibly refuse Luffy's refusal. Because Uno Reverse.
-They're not great fighters. But that's mostly because Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are monsters, Usopp is a marksman prodigy, Nami has years of experience, and Kaya and Nojiko mostly aren't. They can handle grunts and some lower level big names. Mr 7 and Ms Father's Day, for example, would be a good match up.
-One or both of them gets a robot arm, courtesy of Franky. Taking a shot meant for someone else at Enies, because they're the ship's guard(s)! The first line of defense!
-They're actually kind of scary coordinated in a fight. Like fighting one person with four arms and two swords. Fierce Deities have multiple arms, and kill the enemies of Buddhists, or so I read... Asura parallels.
Gin: Lead of the Ship's Guards
-During the Don Krieg fight, he looks at his captain being willing to poison everyone and goes 'man FUCK that guy', before proceeding to bash his everything in with his tonfa and deciding to follow Luffy.
-While he's decent with numbers and supplies and directing people, he's more noticeable really good with fighting. It's not a Monster Quartet, but it's close. And with Nojiko joining at the same time, he decides to do what he does best for his new crew: kicking ass and taking names. As such, he is the one responsible for protecting the Merry while the others are ashore during normal supply trips- also Johnny and Yosaku, but they're sort of subordinate?
-Designated sparring partner for everyone. He knows a Lot about fighting, and he is willing and able to be the iron that people sharpen themselves upon.
-Speaking of, he probably puts magnets or thunder dials in his tonfa eventually, because lightning is cool.
Miss Goldenweek: Painter
-No one knows why, exactly, she joins up. Then again, can't see why she joined Baroque Works... Regardless, I can see it happening, and so it does.
-She paints things. Kind of an artistic record of their journey.
-Eventually takes some lessons (read: is dragged into them by Nami) in how to fight with a staff, or in her case, a big-ass paintbrush- a PAINbrush, if you would. Add in Colors Trap and the potential splattering of paint from impacts, and you have a dangerous young lady.
-Probably somehow gets involved with the Revolutionary Army over the TS as sort of a twist on her canon nickname of 'Flag-Bearer of Freedom'. Might figure out how to mimic Belo Betty's DF powers with just a visual application of her painting: People see it, and they get Inspired.
-Still lazy as hell.
Conis: Dial Mechanic/Harpist
-You're really telling me there's a cute girl with a bazooka who saw people kill an evil God and free her people, and she isn't look 'Alright, sign me up?'
-Plus, she plays the Harp. She's not Brook level of good, but she adds some pleasant noise to the now-somewhat-crowded Merry, and once here's there, she can provide some backup to his violin.
-With the potential for Dials to be integrated into a fair number of the crew's style, it's a good idea to take on someone who really knows how to use them. Usopp learns still, but Conis is really good.
-Also, This Bites! inspiration, she is really fuckin strong. She has to up the firepower of her bazooka so she doesn't accidentally toss it. Also adds Dials to it- Breath Dials let her rocket jump her way to victory...
-Su joins too! Surprisingly smart expressive for a fox, and she will bite a bitch.
Paulie: Rigger
-Why can I see him joining? I dunno, but I can.
-...Okay admittedly he just joined to escape his debts, but his borderline-supernatural ability to work with ropes, knots, and rigging makes him very valuable on the Grand Line, and Nami is happy to have someone who can do stay relatively level-headed and do a crews' worth of work during storms and rough waves. Now if only he'd stop telling the women to wear more clothes...
-People wonder if he ate the Rope-Rope Fruit. He did not. He's just Like That.
-His fighting style while onboard the Sunny is compared to some demented spider; he's crawling and jumping across rigging, lashing out with ropes and knives, ensnaring people in nets that were NOT there a moment ago... Also I can see him using random debris, barrels, and people as meteor hammers, with the help of his ropes.
-He either fights against (and loses to) Doffy, or sees someone else do it, and that really pushes his Rope Action style forward. For what is a string, if not a very small rope...?
Perona: Lookout/Scout
-During the kerfuffle with Kuma, Perona looks around and decides to abandon ship, as it were. So, by the time the Straw Hats are off to the next island, Perona has already settled in... and then people notice she's there.
-Perona isn't expecting to do much work, she is a 'princess' after all. But she crumbles before the Wrath of Nami, who won't have any freeloaders around. And so, Perona finds herself forced to be on the lookout for any ships, islands, storms, Sea Kings, and other such things, and she does her share of help in rough weather. Plus I feel like she could do some needlework? At least her powers make the scouting bits easier.
-Also she can canonically cook, do navigation, and medical work. Much like her fellow pink-haired Straw Hat (Koby), she's a bit of a jack of all trades.
-She gets along surprisingly well with Usopp. Exploding Star + exploding Hollows... plus, they're both more long ranged, and probably admittedly still cowardly. But less so than canon.
-Replace her parasol with a SWORD-UMBRELLA. Zoro is disappointed that three of the other five swordsmen onboard prefer rapier-like sword as opposed to the 'obviously superior katana', but at least he has practice partners. (Sanji is opposed to this, but Perona just Negative Hollows him)
-Brook immediately is fine with her. It's no skin off his nose that she joins- not that he has either! SKULL JOKE YOHOHO- *negativehollow.sfx*
-No but seriously, I think Brook would get her making Ghost Jokes. She would hate that she's doing it, but her fellow member of the Spooky ("CUTE!") duo is actually not terrible to spend time with... plus, they could learn a thing or two from each other's powers!
Aaand that's all I could think of... quality probably dropped towards the end, I wrote this in mostly one sitting. Anyway, back to my 10,000 years of slumber.
