Lately I've been thinking about the vague idea of 'Gurren Lagann but Lagann is some sort of Eldritch Thingy.'
-Rather than just randomly finding it underground, Simon finds it underground- in an unnatural chamber, hewn from black stone, misshapen runs carved deep and seeming to twist and pulse between each blink. The remains of long-dead humans surround an altar, supplicating themselves before this great mechanical face.
-It isn't just turning the core drill that makes Lagann go, no. It needs blood. Human. A sacrifice, to bind the machinery to the pilot, entwining them until time's end. (simon cuts his hand on a sharp panel by accident, which gets blood on the core drill, which then turns like a key)
-Canon Lagann can make drills, which it then uses to combine with other gunmen. Replace drills with tendrils of some unknown material, piercing machinery and curling around vital components, making it a part of Lagann. Assimilation. Collection. From many, one.
...But also the tendrils can formed into drills.
-Lagann's canopy resembles a human brain. Eldritch Lagann is sort of... coral-ish. Tendrils spiraling together to form irregular circular shapes, brain coral but over-sized. In it's own incomprehensible mind, silent to all other things, it thinks unfathomable thoughts...
-Lagann's controls have more tendrils (yay) wrapped around the handles, that unfurl and grasp Simon's hands as he pilots, connecting steel and flesh in ways that are simply unnatural. And once the fight is over, it doesn't want to let go.
-Even when he's not piloting, Lagann 'talks' to Simon. Impressions and images and ideas fill Simon's head, but they're not his. They're forced into his mind like shrapnel into flesh, not his but not able to be dug out. Splashes of spiraling galaxies, endless seas of blood, the corpses of massive horrible beasts still marching towards an unknown, impossible end. The thoughts keep forcing themselves into his head and they won't leave get them out get them out GET THEM OUT- (Simon eventually comes to terms with this, somehow. kiyal: 'yo youre bleeding from all of your face holes' simon: 'haha yeah lagann wants to go exploring')
-The vast scales of the endless universe feature prominently in TTGL.
-Nia probably greeted Simon by saying 'Iä! *incomprehensible cthulhu gibberish*', before speaking perfect... whatever they speak in TTGL. Something something Lordgenome also has an eldritch gunmen, which means all of his children all end up Like That. Still same ol' perfectly nice Nia, as in canon, but she's... off. Shadows flicker at her feet. Her eyes shine colors that man can't see, that aren't visible but still clearly are. She seems like she will disappear with the slightest breeze, a ghostly waif. She speaks the litanies of dead gods, and then is concerned because people's ears are bleeding.
Basically, the Lagann-type gunmen are horrifying. Metal faces driven by some forsaken, unfathomable Want for something that the human brain literally lacks the concepts to comprehend.
Less combining, more assimilating. Less drills, more tendrils. Created by nothing, from nothing, a force willing themselves to be.
Eldritch Lagann isn't malevolent, though. It's thought patterns, it's desires are just... diagonal to human thought. Vaguely understandable if you tilt your thoughts to the side. But for every non-Simon (and Nia) person, this robot is Fucked. Useful, but fucked.
Everyone gets a taste of Eldritch Truth in the second movie.
If Mirio can’t see while using Permeation because light passes through his eyes, how can people see him? Like, sight is a result of light hitting a surface, bouncing off of it into our eyes, and our brains translating that light into what we know as sight.
So if light passes through his eyes, why doesn’t it pass through the rest of him?
Dumb AU idea I had: MHA but Bakugo physically cannot recognize Midoriya when he’s wearing a hat. Any hat. Kind of like Dr Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus.
He’s yelling at him, screaming, then Midoriya puts on a baseball hat and- “…The fuck? Hey, did you see where Deku went?”
Everyone else can tell who it is. Any other sort of disguise Midoriya tries, or anyone else trying the hat thing, it doesn’t work. Bakugo sees through them. And yet for some inexplicable reason, he simply cannot understand that Midoriya didn’t disappear/appear, he just put on/took off a hat. It’s not a Quirk, Bakugo isn’t faceblind or stupid, he just. Does Not Perceive Midoriya.
Dumb Idea 135711: Channeling the Ripple and the Spin through the same object to create a miniature sun. Or at least an efficient vampire-killing tool.
...I think a yo-yo would work well. One of the older ones, made of wood instead of plastic. And a string made from the same stuff as the Ripple-conducting scarves.
Y'know, I haven't seen Megamind in at least 7 years, but I just last night realized he pronounces Metrocity as 'metrocity' because it sounds like 'atrocity', and he's a Super Villain™, who was raised by criminals.
today I was looking at screenshots of chain on my computer and a crumb was on my screen.. anyway at some point it looked like the crumb was a chain beauty mark and my heart skipped a beat #chain

If you think about it, you can (in theory) have someone with a Stand called Sharknado.
The Offspring (also a good Stand name) is a band.
They have a song called Sharknado, which is a cover of 'Gigantor' by the Dickies.
Which is itself a cover of the theme song for the anime of the same name.
Which is the English dub/localization of the anime Tetsujin 28-go.

Rhodes Island Pharmaceuticals is named after the island of Rhodes, in Greece.
Rhodes once had a ~30 meter tall bronze statue of Helios called the Colossus of Rhodes.
Greek myth also tells of Talos, a giant bronze automaton protecting the island of Crete.
In conclusion, the Rhodes Island landship will turn into a giant robot and be used to fight another giant robot.
Me, 5 seconds after getting reminded of Mob Psycho 100: Oh yeah, I loved that anime!! I should give it a rewatch one of these days..
Me, 3 days later: I have plotted out most of a rewrite where Tsubomi gets possessed and ends up sick mid-episode-2-ish, Reigen (and thus Mob) get called to exorcise her, but Mob doesn't see her face or hear the client's name, so he doesn't even really realize the significance. This possession and exorcism gives Tsubomi's totally-real latent psychic powers a kickstart, so she wakes up after 4 days of being sick and accidentally freezes everything in her room solid.
Her parents forgot the name of Spirits and Such, so she can't talk to anyone about suddenly having cryokinesis. Except Mob but she feels awkward approaching him/her 'friends' are Judgemental, so.
Other highlights include:
-She and Mob go almost all of Season 1 without realizing how exactly the whole 'Esper Tsubomi' deal happened.
-Tsubomi sees Mob taken by the Black Vinegar delinquents, and runs to let the Body Improvement Club know. They don't catch/know her name, so they just tell Mob some girl from their school warned them.
-She offers a collapsed post-run Mob a drink from a vending machine, because it 'accidentally' gave her two ice cold ones. (It was not an accident, she chickened out from esper talk, but she is a member of the 'do your best, Mob' club)
-She gets taken by Claw separately from the Psychic Awakening Lab group, but ends meeting Mob, Teru, and Ritsu in- uh- yknow, that one big room that I think suppresses abilities? I forgot the details. Mob asks what she's doing there, she tells him she got kidnapped because esper powers, Mob's like '?? esper tsubomi?? what??', she talks about the exorcism, Mob mentions he helped Reigen with an exorcism the same day Tsubomi got better, then it clicks (for Tsubomi, Mob doesn't connect the dots)
-Cryokinesis because A, I don't remember icy espers in canon, and B, the ice symbolizes the perfection and distance being seen as the school idol gives her, and her want to be... less than perfect, in some ways. Not on a pedestal. Also her psychic aura is blue and fractal-y, like ice and snowflakes.
-'Psychic powers aren't everything-' Yeah, I know. Tsubomi doesn't see any way making and controlling ice would help with her interests, so she just wants to learn how to not freeze shit by accident. Which Reigen helps with by bullshitting about how fire and ice are opposites, and fire-manipulators need to control their temper to to control their powers, so clearly Tsubomi just needs to do the opposite of that and let herself be true to her feelings. (it works).
-More Mob and Tsubomi friendship moments!!
-As people are more and more like 'man, that mob kid is such a loser, why are you nice to him, you should spend time with your real friends', Tsubomi gets more and more fed up before going 'Yknow what? I will spend more time with my real friends.' The next day she is seen running with the Body Improvement Club, chanting 'Fight! On! Fight! On!' right alongside them, and handing Mob a nice cold water bottle when the run is over.
-Does it end with romance? I'unno. Does it matter? Not to me.
...Unrelated, but if Onigawara was an esper, I think he'd be able to heal. Crazy Diamond reference...
