Kendria didn’t think she could wait one more second until the raft dug itself into the shore, and it turned out she didn’t need to. Bouncing off of the large yellow boat, older cousin in tow, she made her way towards the biggest city she had ever seen — Slateport City. To her, it was the best there was - there was a market, there was a club, and there was even a Contest Hall!
She wasn’t going to participate, though. She didn’t even have a Pokémon, and besides - she wasn’t glamorous enough. Even if she was, she’d probably lose.
Just like how she somehow got lost a few minutes after they entered the market. The trip was only supposed to take thirty minutes to an hour, but not being able to see her well-tanned relatives made it seem so much longer. When did everyone start looking so alike?
Slowly, Kendria began to meander. Looking at the adorable Wingull plushes, then the beautiful glass sculptures, she couldn’t help but wonder if she was ever going to be able to be so rich she could afford a thing.
The people who lived in Slateport didn’t seem to be able to recognize a lost girl, no matter how loud she was screaming at them in her mind to offer a hand. She began to wonder how early people in this city let their kids wander around. Either they were used to kids her age just waltzing around the place, or they didn’t care.
Gee, she sure hoped it was the first option. The second option was too mean to be real.
Soon enough, her hand was taken by someone, who thankfully was not a stranger. It was simply her favorite neighbor, Dominique — come to save the day.
"Hey, kid. let’s get you back home, alright?"
