Happy Valentine's Day!

I've been wanting to play around with my Wedding Peach redesigns, so I thought it'd be fun to do a set of small pieces for today.

I did a pair of pieces for the boys as a companion to the Love Angel set I did a few weeks ago!

I’ve been kicking around the concept of a Wedding Peach revamp for a few years.  I like the concepts a lot, but the execution could use some elbow grease.  So, here we are, with some character designs.  I put a lot of thought into varying them up, so I hope that came across well.

Story-wise (for what I have thought out), I’m generally mixing some story beats from the manga, some from the anime, and some I’m making up wholecloth.  There’s a list of hilights under the cut.  Send me asks for more details! <3

The main cast is 17 instead of 14.  They have the pressure of graduation and college prep on top of saving the world.

Each Love Angel thematically lines up with one of the four forms of love.  Agape for Momoko, storge for Hinagiku, eros for Yuri, and philia for Scarlett.  Some character arcs are adjusted accordingly.

Queer rights!  Scarlett is aroace, Yosuke and Hinagiku are both bi, Hinagiku gets a girlfriend, and just dismantle all the heteronormativity from the show.  I have a concept for an episode where the devils stoke homophobia to make the stupid humans do the love-destroying for them.

Yosuke is a more active member of the team from early on, the mystery surrounding his powers and background is a bigger subplot, and the truth comes out sooner.

Momoko, Yuri, and Hinagiku don’t spend NEARLY as much time fighting over Kazuya.  In fact, Momoko and Hinagiku give up pretty quick and support Yuri.

In that same vein, Momoko and Yosuke spend a lot less time bickering and pretending they don’t like each other.

Takuro is like a brother to Hinagiku, not a love interest.

Limone/Kazuya develops closer relationships with the rest of the team.

In the Potamos arc, Hiromi and Scarlett transfer to St. Hanazono at the same time, and there’s some muddled suspicions about who could be the devil infiltrator and who could be the fourth Love Angel.

When Hiromi is uncomfortably clingy and stalkery to Yosuke, the others try to help him rather than victim blaming him.

The stuff towards the end with the four elite devils and Reine Devila launching an all out invasion are expanded.

Story arc structure: Pluie Arc -> Igneous Arc -> Potamos Arc -> Viento Arc -> Petura Arc -> Four Great Devils Arc -> Reine Devila Apocalypse Arc.

Srsly you guys, since I left school I’ve been re-reading all my manga and this week was vol. 1&2 of Shugo Chara and 1-3 of Wedding Peach and I just wanna say that YOSUKE IS SO DAMN ADORABLE but Momoko and him are perfect together bUT I WANT TO FIND SOMEONE LIKE THAT (too bad my school life was garbage)
