Here’s Gambit and Rogue from Marvel‘s X-Men drawn in procreate. Two of my favorite characters of all time! My ma first got me Rogue’s limited series comics back in 1994 which launched me into full nerd. Mike Wieringo’s art style still influences me to this day. RIP to a great artist!

Speaking of Rogue, I see a lot of people since after xmen97 talking about the Antarctica and Belladonna memory thing and people tend to miss out two very important tidbits:

1. Belladonna

she was tempted to steal her memories and got closer to the bed. She ultimately decided against it and felt awful for considering it. Telling herself and the unconscious belladonna “I’m sorry Belle—I’ll never” then is cut off (Presumably about to say she wouldn’t ever take her memories) by Belladonnas hand reflexing. You can read the panel yourself but painting it as her intentionally and maliciously taking her memories is not correct. (Panel from Gambit #3)

2. Antarctica:

If you know anything about Romy you likely recall this, The Trial of Gambit is one of those times that caused a significant drift between the two. This goes along the lines of people making it out to be malicious or fully done by Rogues own decision…except it’s not. And was more Gambits decision per what was either a retcon or xmen writers doing slightly choppy revelations. But I think Rogues very obvious guilt gives us more of an answer (all panels below from X-men v2 #82.) As you see in the first panel we see that Rogue did not want to leave him and went back for him, when she’s talking and fighting with kali she also seems confused by her own actions. “If I was in love, why did I do this? Why did I leave him? If we were supposed to be together, why did I abandon him!” Her actions went against what SHE wanted…why? Well. Because she wasn’t acting on what she wanted. She was acting on Gambuts emotions, whom she had been forced to kiss by Erik the Red (who was secretly Magneto) during the trial of Gambit. All those thoughts, memories and importantly: Feelings were all swarming her brain. (More yapping after the comic panels below!)

We learn that she didn’t act on her feelings, her emotions and was acting on his, his self hatred and him feeling as if he should be left there was so strong, so deeply crowding his brain that it deeply crowded hers too. That’s why we get Rogue being conflicted, Gambits own emotions went against hers, but that kiss was so fresh that it hadn’t worn off or started wearing off yet. I think it’s also good to note what she says to Gambit in Antarctica:

“HOME? YOU AIN'T GOT NO HOME, SUGAH. NOT WITH ME... NOT WITH THE X-MEN…(and so on)” sounds very very similar to the way Gambit sees himself. He’s always felt some sort of guilt or dread toward the fact he had to keep a lot of secrets from the xmen and from Rogue. The multiple “I’m not the man you think I am” “I have secrets” “my past is mystery” things that follow along those lines. The words were pretty specific and mimicked the self hate/acknowledging his sketchiness we have seen before. Why not make Rogue angry? Why not make her lash out and say she hated him, why didn’t she hit him or fight him? This last part could be me reaching, but it’s why I don’t fully believe it was a retcon and may have been the intention from the start. I mean..Rogue kissed him, that was pretty intentional, you’d have to kind of think for a second if she would absorb his thoughts and feelings too. (Panel from uncanny xmen #250)

Okay that’s all, I just wanted to further explain stuff I see misconstrued a lot lololol

Idea: Wicked AU where Dorothy accidentally returns to Oz like a day after she gets back home, hears that Fiyero left for the lands beyond Oz and goes after him with the Lion and Boq. They catch up to them in the desert with zero protection and the rest of the story is Fiyero fussing over everyone, a very done with everything Elphaba reluctantly having to spend time around Dorothy in a mix of resentment and guilt, Boq suffering when he finds out what really happened, and the Lion being more stressed out than ever.
