When you said you were into photography, Yosuke thought it was going to be one of two things
“Boring” nature shots of Inaba OR cool, epic action shots (*cough* of him *cough*)
So imagine his surprise when you ask him to model for your photos
And imagine his surprise becoming even bigger and MORE dramatic when you tell him you don’t want action shots of him splashing in the take or riding a scooter- you want to take portraits of him
Begrudgingly, he’ll accept (because he loves you too much hehe) but he’s going to be awkward about it the whole time
You’ll probably take him around beautiful sights around Inaba like the shrine or the Flood Plains around sunset and have to coach him through all these different positions and poses
You’ll probably have to tell him a thousand times to “smile normally” and “stop looking miserable” because he’s starting to get bored just “standing around and looking pretty for you”
But once you show him the final product, don’t worry- he’ll be amazed at your skill and just amazed at how good you made him look
Sure, he may grumble a bit about how you took hours dragging him around only to end up with less than 10 photos that you’re satisfied with but he does thank you profoundly
You made him feel beautiful and loved when you showed him just how good your favorites looked (in the most, manly way he swears)
Yusuke Kitagawa
Yusuke is a guy who GETS it (kinda)
Since the man is (primarily? completely?) a painter and you’re medium of choice is photography, there are definitely some rules and ways of going about finding and showcasing a subject that differs between the two of you
But an artist can absolutely appreciate another artist’s work, even if you both engage in different forms of art so expect this guy to 100% be your biggest hype man
Y’all probably go back and forth with trying to spark inspiration for each other when one of you is stuck in a slump
Either way, Yusuke is not only honored- he’s thrilled to pieces when you ask him to be your model one day
Though he’s a bit difficult to work with at first
He has his own eye for aesthetics and naturally prefers to do his own poses and expressions (while maybe even directing how you should frame him in the photograph)
But once he cools his jets and lets you do your thing, everything works out
He’s more than happy with seeing your final product and he’s really able to understand your vision once he sees it come alive in the printed photographs
Might even make him so happy that he’ll make a completely abstract painting of his emotions in that moment and even name it after you haha <3
Because it’s still Halloween where I am and it’s something that popped into my head last minute
*Yosuke is a scaredy cat when it comes to anything horror related, video games included
*so when you asked him to play a horror game with you, he was very hesitant to do so
*...though he only agreed to do it because you would be the one playing it
*Anytime there was a jumpscare, Yosuke would practically cling to you for a few moments, before letting you go with a faint blush on his face and a "I wasn't scared, nope, not at all"
*You don't mind it, but if you notice him getting too scared, to the point where he starts trembling, you will pause the game and cuddle with him until he stops

You’ve been busy lately.
With frequent visits to the shadow world, massive amounts of schoolwork, and meetings with the investigation team, you’ve had your hands full.
Even so, you find yourself walking through Junes. Your head swivels each and every way in your search for a head of fluffy brown hair.
Your eyes spot said head a few meters away. You feel the way your lips curl into a smile, and your voice echoes as you call out to Yosuke. He’s in the middle of restocking shelves, but at the sound of your voice he’s quick to turn around.
It’s almost comical how fast he immediately turns around, back to facing the shelves. The rest of the items are placed on the shelf with inhuman speed. As Yosuke sets the now empty box down you make your way over to him.
“Eager to talk to me, huh?” You tease. You adore the way his cheeks redden. “Yeah yeah. Follow me, act like you’re asking me for help so I can “show you where the item is.” You follow his request, and soon you two are walking around Junes as Yosuke feigns helping you search for something.
“So… how’ve you been? I know it must be hard with work, the investigation team, and school. Has king moron been picking on you again?” Your question elicits a tired groan out of Yosuke. “You know it. I just can’t catch a break with him. Otherwise I’ve been holding up pretty well. You?” Yosuke’s eyes meet yours, and you swear you see specks of gold in his eyes.
“Ah- I’ve been holding up well…” You cough, hoping to cover up the embarrassing way your voice cracked. You peek towards Yosuke to gauge his reaction. Thankfully, he seems none the wiser as he smiles lovingly in your direction.
Wait- lovingly? Be for real Y/n.
You scold yourself for thinking Yosuke would look at you like that. As much as you wish it so, you know he has a lot on his plate despite his calm demeanor. You don’t want to add a love confession on top of everything he already has to juggle. Although..
Your face warms as Yosuke’s hand grasps yours. He quickly pulls you towards him, out of the way of a flying cart. “Hey, watch where you’re going with that!” Yosuke shouts after a young kid chasing after the wayward cart.
“Sorry about that. You okay?” As Yosuke carefully checks you over, all you can think about is the warmth of his hand in yours and how close he’s standing next to you. “I’m fine.” Your response is unusually terse, but Yosuke seems none the wiser.
“Okay, great! Come, the aisle is right this way.” Yosuke’s teasing tone makes you laugh. He leads you to the candy aisle, his hand firmly holding on to yours.
Unbeknownst to you, Yosuke had no intention of letting your hand go anytime soon.

“Come on you two, you’re so obvious. Will you two start dating already? Please spare us from this unbearable tension. Please.” Chie’s loud voice booms across the table. Yu, Yukiko, and Kanji all stop what they were discussing to stare at the two of you. You’re sure Rise would’ve had a sly comment to make if she were here.
“Uh- what are you talking about moron? Shut up!” Yosuke’s face explodes in a burst of red. He reaches across the table to shove Chie, and she shouts as she shoves him back in retaliation. “Huh? What do you mean Chie? I thought Yosuke and Y/n were already dating.” Yukiko’s curious gaze lands on you, and you swear you could melt to the floor right then and there from the burning mortification.
Passersby turn to watch the scene unfold. Yu coughs awkwardly. He separates Yosuke and Chie from each other, and Kanji pays no mind to the shenanigans occurring in front of him.
Once the commotion dies down, Yosuke sits back in his seat beside you. You glance at him out of the corner of your eye, and you catch his gaze. You quickly glance away with warm cheeks.
You hear a collective groan from the investigation team.
You stick your tongue out at them.

The meeting comes to an end, and you walk beside Yosuke on your trip back home. Yosuke wheels his bike beside him as he walks next to you. You laugh at Yosuke’s annoyed rant about Chie, his frustration evident in his tone.
You stare at Yosuke as he talks. You admire the animated expressions he makes. You aren’t paying attention to where you’re walking, and you wind up bumping shoulders with Yosuke. You catch yourself and put a bit of distance between the two of you once more.
You let out a noise of surprise when Yosuke follows you, closing the distance between the two of you once more. He shyly glances at you before his gaze moves downward. Your eyes follow his, and you realize his eyes are glued to your hand. You tentatively inch your hand closer to his, and he doesn’t hesitate to grasp it.
He continues to wheel the bike beside him with one hand, while his other hand squeezes yours. The silence is loud between the two of you as you walk.
Wait, what does this mean??
Your mind runs a mile a minute as you think back on past interactions between you and Yosuke. You’ve harbored a crush on Yosuke for a few months. It began soon after you joined the investigation team, following Chie and Yukiko.
You hope your hand isn’t sweaty.
You tentatively glance at Yosuke once more.
Honestly, this feels incredible. If Yosuke’s smile is anything to go by, maybe he feels the same way? There’s no way the investigation team would constantly tease the two of you if they couldn’t see something unspoken going on between the two of you.
Your mouth parts, a question on your tongue. You’re willing to risk heartbreak in order to confront Yosuke on his true feelings, especially if it means you get to experience the bliss of holding his hand like this everyday.
“Yosuke-” “Y/n-” You both pause in your step, and stare at each other with wide eyes. A beat of silence passes before you both begin laughing.
Yosuke bumps his shoulder against yours as he laughs, and you lean against his arm for support. “Yosuke, you first.” You manage to get out, giggling all the while. “You sure?” When you nod your approval, Yosuke’s laughter suddenly dies down. He chuckles, but his eyes dart every which way.
“Yosuke..?” He jumps a bit at the sound of your voice. “Sorry Y/n. Um- well… Do you think there’s been a bit of.. tension between us? Like Chie mentioned earlier?” Yosuke’s nervous glance in your direction morphs into one of shock when you nod in agreement. You fidget in place as he stares at you, and you squeeze his hand.
When he squeezes back, you feel you have the boost of confidence you need to voice your thoughts. “Well, honestly Yosuke, I’ve.. I’ve had a crush on you for a while now.” You glance at him, and his pupils are blown wide. His cheeks are flushed, and his mouth is parted in the pretty shape of an ‘o.’
You hesitate to continue. He slowly blinks before he shakes his head. “Y/n, I-”
CRASH!
You jump in shock, and Yosuke yelps as he falls forward. He lets go of your hand so you aren’t dragged down with him. His bike falls away from him as his body crashes into a trash can.
Oh, Yosuke.
You can only chuckle in amusement as he curses. He quickly gets up to fix himself and the toppled trash can. As he leans down to pick up his bike, you move closer to him.
“Sorry Y/n! Geez, these stupid trash cans. You know, I… I’ve had a crush on you too. Ever since I saw your shadow…” You pause. Your limbs feel cold as you recall the sheer embarrassment you were forced to live through as your shadow revealed your innermost, darkest thoughts.
Where is he going with this?
You take a step back from him as he continues to speak. “..I realized we may have more in common than I thought. You’re so… radiant. At first I thought there was no way you’d have a shadow. Y/n? Lovely, gorgeous, Y/n having a shadow? No way. Well, I was surely proven wrong. But.. but that moment made me realize I didn’t know you like I thought I did. Honestly, we had class together but we’ve never shared a meaningful conversation. I’ve heard those awful rumors about you, and although I didn’t pay them any mind.. I was curious about you. Meeting you in the shadow world and seeing that side of you gave me the opportunity I needed to approach you…. As bad as that sounds.” Yosuke sheepishly shrugs at his words.
My feet stop moving, and I’m rooted to the spot. Wait, he wasn’t turned off by my shadow? He… he still likes me? Knowing my deepest insecurities, he still wanted to get to know me?
I’m flabbergasted; frozen in place. Yosuke moves closer to me, and I can see a flame of determination within his brown orbs. “Y/n. I like you. Really, really like you. If you’re willing to give a relationship with me a try…then…” Yosuke’s words act as a whispered confession of love; his words cause your heart to race and your cheeks to flush.
He lets go of his bike once more. As it clatters to the ground his free hand grasps yours. Now, both of his hands are holding yours. He brings you closer, holding your intertwined hands close to his heart.
He’s so close now.
Your breathing quickens as he draws closer.
But, he pauses.
He breathes deeply as he stares into your eyes. You’re so close you can smell him, and gosh he smells heavenly.
“Y/n… All I can say is, I was enchanted to meet you.” His lips hover over yours now, but he waits. He waits for you to close the distance, if that’s what you wish.
You don’t plan on making him wait.
His honeyed words echo in your mind as you lean in, and your lips finally, finally, brush against his. Yosuke’s groan reaches your ears as he leans against you. His lips feel like the fluffiest and softest of clouds in the sky… albeit a bit chapped.
You sigh in bliss once the two of you part. Your eyes meet Yosuke’s once more, and the spellbound look in his eyes causes your breath to catch in your throat.
Gosh, you love this man.
Yosuke smiles at you like the dork he is. He presses a chaste kiss against your lips once more before he pulls away. You immediately miss the warmth of his hands when he lets go of yours.
He leans down and picks up his bike. When he turns around to look at you once more, his face is bathed in the setting sun’s golden glow.
You’re absolutely mesmerized as he holds out his free hand to you once more. “So… Can I take that kiss as a yes? That’ll you’ll go out with me, that is.” Yosuke’s nerves show themselves through his trembling hand. You will your heart to slow down as you slowly reach for his hand.
You laugh shyly as your fingers intertwine with his.“Of course, Yosuke. I’d love nothing more.”
Your words cause his eyes to light up in elation, and he squeezes your hand happily. “I’m… I’m so glad!” Yosuke leans into you, nuzzling his face against yours.
As you share joyful laughter together, the golden sky serves as a beautiful backdrop on this memorable day.

Yosuke had been acting up all week, and you couldn’t quite pin it on anything specific. He seemed… happier and sadder than he usually was. How someone could be both happier and sadder at the same time was a mystery to you. But, anytime you and the rest of the group went to the school roof to have lunch together, and he would make the group laugh with one of his jokes, he’d become all quiet all of a sudden, almost contemplative. He was acting very strangely. And now, out of the blue, he wanted to hang out at Junes with you… On a day where there was a 99% chance of it raining in the afternoon?
“Did Teddy take your phone again Yosuke? Because I can’t believe you want to hang out at Junes on our day off! You’re always complaining that every time we hang out here, Chie tricks you into buying her steak.” You laugh, greeting him as he looks up at his phone.
“Well luckily for us, Chie isn’t here today, so my wallet is safe from her ransacking for the day!” He chuckles back, putting his phone away and giving you his full attention.
“Well, you never know… I might develop an obsession with steak too.” You tease, ruffling his hair and making his headphones fall down to his neck.
“You wouldn’t dare hurt me this way (Y/N)! Don’t join the dark side and be like them!” He laughs, pretending to grab his heart in shock and falling to the floor.
“Naaaah! There’s no way I can contend with Chie and Teddy’s food consumption anyway.” You smile, helping him up from the floor and start walking towards the food court on the roof.
“Anyway, you said Chie’s not here? That’s strange? In fact, where is everyone else? Are they waiting upstairs?” You ask, looking around for them.
“A-Actually, they’re all busy today! Yeah, Yu had to look after Nanako and the others had to take care of things at home...And honestly, teddy ran off somewhere so who knows where that bear is.” He responds, looking away from you.
Strange… he only does that when he’s lying… so what’s really going on?
“Well that’s alright, we can still have fun with just the two of us.” You respond, hoping to lift the mood a little.
“Yeah… Actually, I wanted to show you something.” He said almost… nervously? He stopped right next to a bench and turned towards you.
“... Promise not to laugh if I show you this?” He asked, looking more nervous by the second. Him… nervous? This was new.
“Of course I won’t laugh. What is it?” You asked, trying to look behind him.
“...Teddy’s been watching magic shows while we’re at school and has been teaching me magic tricks.”
It’s quiet for a moment. But you can’t fully hold in the laughter bubbling up within you and let out a snort, covering your mouth.
“You promised you wouldn’t laugh!” He exclaimed in despair, looking like a sad, dejected puppy.
“I’m not! I swear! I want to see this! Like I really want to see this.” You respond, trying to encourage him not to deflate on the spot.
“Well alright then, since you asked so nicely.” He said, gathering himself up and reaching into his pockets. He pulls out a pack of cards and shuffles them quickly.”
“Pick a card! Any card! Don’t let me see and once you’ve memorized, put it back into the deck.” He exclaims a touch too loudly. Those nerves were coming back again.
You quickly pick a card at random. The eight of spades. Knowing you can remember that, you slide it back in. Letting him know that you were done, he begins shuffling them again. But just as he was trying to be fancy and shuffle them by splitting the deck in half and flicking them over each other, a heavy gust of winds blows the cards straight out of his hand and off the side of the roof.
“No! That trick was going to be so good!” Yosuke shouts, trying to reach out for the cards, only managing to only grab one. Looking dejected again, he slowly looks back to you and turns the card around.
“... Your card wouldn’t happen to be the nine of Clubs would it?” He asks in a last-ditch attempt.
“... Eight of Spades…” You respond back, the silence afterwards deafening.
“...So close.” He said sadly, crumpling up the remaining card and throwing it in the bin.
“Oh, don’t worry Yosuke. I’m sure it would’ve worked if the wind didn’t get involved.” You said, trying to reassure him while looking up at the clouds. It’s definitely going to rain soon. But, your reassurance seemed to have worked a little bit, as he turned around with a half-smile on his face.
“It’s fine...It’s fine. I’ve got one more trick I know how to do.”
“C’mon Yosuke! You can do it!” You shouted encouragingly. You really wanted to see this work.
“Right… So, there’s nothing up my sleeves, right? He asked, pinching the ends of his white jacket sleeves and pulling them down to show that in fact, nothing was up his sleeves.
“Right, now watch this!” He says, reaching up his sleeves.
“Ta-Da!” He shouts, quickly taking something out of his sleeves and holding it out to you.
It was definitely made of paper, maybe some flowers? But before you could get a proper look at whatever Yosuke was holding, the rain started downpouring on the pair of you and turned the paper object into paper-mache. Not wanting his trick to be ruined a second time, you knelt down and desperately tried to salvage whatever it was he was holding just a second ago.
“Oh no! Your paper… roses? Wait, was that part of the trick?” You ask him, who was looking down and shaking slightly.
“Oh come on! Why did it have to rain just at the final bit!” Yosuke yelled angrily, kicking the bench behind him in frustration, only realizing that was a bad idea after he kicked and had to clutch his foot from the pain of kicking a metal bench.
“Hey! Yosuke, relax!”
“How can I relax!?! I messed up! I messed up big time! The timing, the weather! Everything!”
“It’s ok! Is doesn’t matt-
“It does matter! It matters to me!”
“But why though?”
“Because I wanted to tell you I liked you in some special way! I-”
Immediately, Yosuke slaps a hand over his mouth, slowly turning redder and redder. You stand there in shock. He liked you back? How did you not realize this sooner? You were usually good at reading people’s emotions, so how did you miss this.
“Ooooooooh! Why do I always stick my foot in my mouth!” He shouts, sitting down on the park bench behind you with his head in his had. He almost looked like he was going to cry. He must have wanted to do this properly so bad.
“Hey… It’s ok Yosuke. I like you too.” You reply, resting a hand on his shoulder and sitting down next to him. He peeks up at you through his fingers.
“....Really?”
“Really.”
“Even though I messed it all up?”
“Yes!” You reply, laughing a bit
“Yosuke, you could’ve rolled down the hill and fell into a bin like the day we met each other, and I would still like you. Because no matter what you think, you always try your best, you’re always there to support your friends, and you always make my day better with your jokes.”
“...heh. Thanks (Y/N).” He finally responds, sitting up from his slouch and exhaling deeply, looking towards the sky.”
“I’m sorry I freaked out about the whole confession thing not being perfect. It just that… I lost the chance to tell Saki how I really felt. I just wanted it to be perfect for you. Because you deserve it.” He turns to you and gives you a sad smile.
“Oh, Yosuke. That’s why you were looking sad all week. I know you really cared for Saki. I’m sorry you didn’t get a chance to tell her everything you wanted to tell her.”
“Thanks. I know I’m still getting over her. So I’m sorry if sometimes I’m not entirely in the moment. But I really do like you (Y/N). And I hope I can prove I’m not a complete dork and worth the effort.”
Laughing, you hug one another in the rain, holding each other like you were the only two people in the entire world. Like the rain wasn’t soaking through your uniforms. Like the rain didn’t even exist.
“I’m sure that you will. Now come on, let’s get out of this rain and get some food before we catch colds and have to get taken care of by Teddy.”
“Oh god! I can’t think of anything worse!” Yosuke chuckles. So, grabbing his hand, you lead him off of the roof of Junes, and head inside, hoping to grab something to eat to round out the day. It may have not gone as perfectly as he liked. But he had to admit, the days’ disasters ended up making his confession quite magical anyway.
