In many series, when the main villain or anti-hero has done many bad things, the writers usually decide to bring on a character who sees the different side of this person and finds ways to somehow justify his or her bad deeds. For example in “13 Reasons Why”, for Bryce, this character was Ani.
I somewhat understand why they choose to do this. Usually, I enjoy to see the different sides of characters and the actor’s or actress’ acting abilities. But it might easily slip too far to try and diminish every bad deed the villain has done - and I don’t like it.
But for some reason, when it comes to “YOU”, I would really like to see the real Will return in season 3. I want him to be happy and alive - despite his issues, he seems like a really nice guy and his ability to forgive is unbelievable - but his dynamic with Joe is really interesting. His presence and possible effects on Joe’s behavior would be especially intriguining if the woman at the end of the season 2 turns out to be Joe’s mother.
Plus, I really want to see Paco return and face Joe and his past, perhaps realizing more of his friend’s and “mentor’s” past and vicious deeds - and maybe revealing at least some of the truth. I was glad to see that he was able to move elsewhere and start fresh, but all that happened must have left deep scars in him - and their consequences might show up properly now that he is somewhat older.
In all honesty, considering how the book ends, I have no idea how the series finale will end up to be. But Joe deserves to be punished and suffer for all that he did to Candace, Benji, Beck, Peach, and partly Forty, Ellie, Delilah and Dr. Nicky (and all the other characters he harmed). If that will happen, it will be so damn satisfying and rewarding.
PS. I’ve been rewatching both seasons in two days, and noticed that Joe is like “An Unhealthy Obsession” by Blake Robinson Synthetic Orchestra in human form.
