Kris and Jake and their affects on the siblings relationship Pt 1
I think the way Kris and Jake treated the kids put a strain on Piper and Henry’s relationship as siblings in a way. But I have too much to say about that so I’m just focusing on Henry first and then Piper
So there is this defense mechanism called displacement. Where you feel one emotion towards something, like anger, but take it out on something else. Which I feel may have happened with the kids.
It would have happened with Henry always getting the responsibility dumped on him because being forced to take care of your sibling definitely impacted the things he could do as a kid.
Like in Jasper Danger, where Henry, Charlotte, and Jasper all plan to go trick or treat together, which gets ruined by Kris and Jake dumping the responsibility of Piper on him. He seems to almost take his anger out on her.
When he was younger he most likely felt resentment and anger towards Piper because he had to take care of her now so by default she’s the problem. But later it could have developed into the fact that he can’t be mad at his parents so he’ll chose the next best thing which so happens to be Piper.
It’s most likely why he gets so annoyed with her so quickly sometimes. He ends up displacing his anger, directing it towards Piper.
In the later seasons they get better and it becomes so much more obvious that they care for each other, or in most cases that Piper cares for Henry
