tim drake 100% accidentally came out because he was too tired to remember he was closeted
okay so we ALL know tim runs on like 3 hours of sleep, 17 cups of coffee, and pure spite on a good day right??? mans is chronically exhausted and his brain-to-mouth filter is basically non-existent when he's really tired
so picture this: it's june, pride month is in full swing, gotham's having their annual pride parade and the whole family is just casually talking about it over breakfast
dick's being his usual supportive ally self like "oh we should totally go support everyone this year!" and jason's grumbling but in a fond way about how "the community deserves better than corporate rainbow capitalism" (valid points king)
and tim, who has been awake for approximately 47 hours straight working on a case, is just sitting there with his cereal looking like a zombie
then bruce mentions something about "supporting the lgbtq+ youth in gotham" and without THINKING, still half-asleep tim just goes:
"oh yeah that's great, i should probably actually go this year since i'm like... part of the community and all"
and then he just. keeps eating his cereal. completely unaware that the entire dining room has gone DEAD SILENT
like dick has frozen with his coffee cup halfway to his mouth. jason's toast is just... suspended in air. damian looks confused but intrigued. bruce.exe has stopped working.
and tim's just... eating cereal. probably thinking about the case. completely oblivious to the fact that he just accidentally came out to his entire family because his sleep-deprived brain forgot that he'd never actually TOLD anyone
it probably takes a solid thirty seconds before dick very carefully goes "tim... buddy... what do you mean you're part of the community?"
and tim, STILL not fully processing, is like "oh you know, bi and all that. pass the orange juice?"
cue the most chaotic supportive family meltdown in wayne manor history
dick immediately starts crying happy tears and goes into full big brother mode like "TIM WHY DIDN't YOU TELL US I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS ARE YOU SEEING ANYONE DO YOU NEED ANYTHING"
jason's just nodding approvingly like "good for you kid, also fuck anyone who has a problem with it"
damian, in his own way, probably says something like "this changes nothing about your combat effectiveness, drake" which is basically damian-speak for "i love and support you"
bruce goes into Concerned Dad Mode™ and starts asking if tim felt safe to come out, if he needs anything, if anyone's been giving him trouble
and tim's just sitting there FINALLY realizing what happened like "oh. OH. oh fuck i forgot i never told you guys"
"YOU FORGOT???"
"I'VE BEEN RUNNING ON NO SLEEP FOR TWO DAYS OKAY MY BRAIN ISN'T WORKING"
turns out tim had been planning to come out for MONTHS. had a whole speech prepared. was waiting for the right moment. had it all planned out.
instead he accidentally did it while eating lucky charms at 9am on a random tuesday because he was too tired to remember it was supposed to be a secret
but honestly?? it's so perfectly tim drake. no drama, no big moment, just "oh yeah btw i'm bi, can someone pass the juice?"
and the family's response is just pure love and chaos and support, exactly how it should be
alfred probably comes in later like "master timothy, i've taken the liberty of researching local lgbtq+ resources and also your favorite cookies are cooling in the kitchen" because alfred is the BEST
tim definitely ends up going to pride that year with the whole family as his very enthusiastic, very loud, very supportive cheering section
dick probably makes t-shirts. jason threatens anyone who even looks at tim wrong. damian researches pride history to "better understand the significance of the occasion." bruce funds like 12 different lgbtq+ organizations that week.
and tim's just happy he doesn't have to keep track of another secret because honestly he has enough of those already
