Stepford Smiler: ‘The Stepford Smiler is obsessed with projecting an image of wholesome happiness in order to be accepted by her peers’. In S4, Laura is putting on a very good show of being a rich, happy woman. She fits into life in London easily, and always has a grin on her face. Underneath, she’s not that woman. She’s tired and broken and has a dark past she’s desperately trying to run from.
Talking to the Dead: A character addresses a dead person, not expecting a response, not getting one — at least, not an unequivocal one. After Love’s death, Laura’s inner monologue shifts, almost as if she’s talking to someone who isn’t herself…
