So, I’ve never really liked Warhammer - just not my style - but I have learned to appreciate aspects of it over time. There are two nuggets of information I particularly appreciate:
One, the Imperium is so damn big. Not just that they blow up planets when they’re too much trouble, (after all, we’ve got hundreds more like that one,) but legions of millions can become literally lost for years due to a simple clerical error. And the axe-wielding great-grandchildren of the legion gone native get called up to fight laser-toting skeletons because someone finally found the missing folder tucked into the back of a filing cabinet.
Secondly, Orks. Just Orks. Specifically, the fact that they simply think their technology into working out of sheer belief. Not only do they shoot you with guns that throw the whole bullet at you BECAUSE THAT WUT THE GUNZ DO but they will successfully chase you into space in a biplane, simply because they believe there’s air in space.
So yeah, super-apocalypse? Demons? Chainsaw-swords? Super-soldiers who spit acid because why not?
Meh.
Monumental bureaucracy and aliens that go faster in the red cars simply because they believe they are faster?
That’s my jam.
