Amidst all the madness of today a little nostalgia. When I was in high school in the late 70’s and early 80’s my parents tried their hand at entrepreneurship. This building used to house the restaurant/bar they owned. I worked there as a cook. This is where I learned to cook a steak, where people used to line up out the door for the all you could eat fried shrimp. This is where I used to jam to Van Halen or the soundtrack from Up in Smoke while washing a mountain of dishes. I’m still 9 months away from leaving, but I’ve been investigating anyhow, I’m fairly certain that when Ieave Japan the cellphone that I bought when I came here is in fact not going to be able to be used in New Zealand, but instead just a very expensive brick.

Of course, this is NOT what CIRfromhell told me. She told me it would cost me around 3000 yen to get it unlocked when I cancel my contract.

She is undoubtedly wrong about this as well, and just generally useless at life.

Why is she so piss poor at explaining anything?

There are so many thngs that you do when explaining to aid yourself, that she does in these strange backwards and counter-inuitive ways that make her manner of explaining things so incredibly terrible.

It’s all very small things. The likes of the way you would normally point to the thing which you are talking about, if the thing you’re talking about it on the page in front of you.

No this bird, no no! She points to something completely unrelated, AND THEN is intensely condescending when I think that the thing she was pointing to is the thing she was speaking about. It’s not like I possess the capacity to read the thing she’s talking about. How am I to know?

She also can’t get her personal pronouns straight. I have no idea who she’s trying to talk about when she says “you” because it seems like “you” is everyone who is not her. And often also not me. Who is this fabled “you”? You will probably never know.
