Today was the day of the concert. After all the planning, I think it went pretty well.
Here are a few pictures from the night.
October 8th - Falling into place
After worrying about the venue for the YOU For Uttarakhand concert and figuring out a way to solve it. I finally received some good news in the evening saying that we are back on. * insert big sigh of relief and small hooray*
It was a pretty busy day for me at work as I had another client presentation. I texted Juhi when I received the good news to relieve her of worry as well.
The meeting was went pretty well. And by the end of it, it was evening. And I had no more work,[none that required immediate attention at least] which meant I could go home!
Wayne and I decided to have a good dinner today. And on our way we decided to go to a new place in our lane called Goofiness Place. And goofy it was.
It was the pinkest place I have EVER seen! Sickly pink. uuggh. We discussed how it would be perfect for a Barbie party. We half-expected [me more than Wayne] to be served in tiny tea cups by people dressed up in buckrams and loud makeup. No such luck. But the food was good. So yay!
Over dinner we discussed Wayne's decision of moving back to Bombay. His relationship takes priority. And while we were talking, I had to come to terms with actually being in this city alone. I know that when I came here I was ready to be on my own, but to be honest, I have gotten used to having him for company.
I hope I make more friends before he leaves. At least some who I can have decent conversation with.
Something to think about...
October 3rd - Gig poster
The YOU For Uttarakhand concert is on the 12th. I have the bands and venue in place and now it is time to start promoting the event.
In Bombay it was easy for me to ask a friend or 2 for a favour to get things done. But my relationship with people in Bangalore is a month old. Not exactly favour qualifying.
Today's mission was to get a poster made.
I still managed to find people to volunteer. Just reassures my faith in good.
September 12th - Event-filled
Today is the day of the YOU For Uttarakhand in Delhi. It is also my brother's birthday. And twitter soon informed me it was Warren Mendonsa's birthday too. Haa!
So today is all about trying to remain calm. Because I am not in Delhi overseeing things, all I can do is trust MTV to do a good job.
In the middle of my working day I receive a parcel. My induction cooker! #yippiiieee
For dinner today I went out with Wayne and couple of colleagues to a cute little place called Claytopia. It was fun.
It also worked as a good distraction for me. But as soon as I got home I logged on to Facebook and Twitter and eagerly looked for posts about the concert. Nothing. Zlich. Nichts.
This worried me. Because when our Bombay concert was on, Twitter and Facebook were both abuzz.
Finally, before I slept, which was around midnight, I saw a tweet from one of the band members part of Coke Studio. Also, our headlining act.
Awesome! So I tweeted good wishes to which he replied asking why me and my friend Juhi [who has been helping me from the time I started the initiative] weren't there. And then my reply led to this.
*insert freaked out face* I could not faint since I was almost asleep. With the morning being only a few hours away, I decided to worry then.
September 11th - Facing the Camera
Tomorrow is the YOU For Uttarakhand concert in Delhi. MTV Act partnered with us for this and refused to pay for my ticket to Delhi so I am here in Bangalore, biting my nails and hoping it all goes well tomorrow.
Since I could not be there I decided to send across a selfie video thanking the people who made it and the artistes who volunteered to perform. Only thing is, I don't enjoy being in front of a camera. But this had to be done.
And that was today's mission.
Luckily the people in office are really helpful. I borrowed an iphone 5 and a colleague filmed [and directed...to my surprise] me recite a few impromptu lines. I edited the footage [read: snipped out extra footage] and mailed it to MTV. Then I sat with my fingers crossed all night.
