Does Kelly Clarkson do anything wrong? Going to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville on Friday, Clarkson surprised a group of children, parents and caregivers with a performance as a part of Musicians On Call, which works to bring both live and recorded music to hospital patients. And it’s clear what kind of effect the surprise performance had on the kids.
She spent six hours at the hospital, putting on an intimate 8-song concert for children and families at the hospital’s theater. And she even spent time with the families afterwards.
Clarkson performed a ton of classic holiday songs, including “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” “Underneath The Tree,” “Have Yourself,” “Jingle Bells,” “Run Run Rudolph,” “White Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “All I Want for Christmas.”
But Clarkson really went above and beyond while she was at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. Following her performance, she then went room-to-room to meet and play with the kids that couldn’t come down to the concert.
It’s no wonder that she was the Music Heals honoree at the Musicians On Call 15th Anniversary Celebration in NYC on Nov. 18. And it’s no secret that music really does heal and can really lift someone’s spirit.
You could see on the kids’ faces in their pictures with Clarkson what a big deal it was to have her there and hear the holiday music. “Musicians On Call is incredibly fortunate to have someone as generous and caring as Kelly Clarkson as a champion of program,” Pete Griffin, the President of Musicians On Call said. “Kelly spent six hours at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and whether it was through the power of her music or her sense of humor she brought joy to dozens of patients, family members and caregivers this holiday season.”
