Emma could recognize the signs of the weather about to change and was heading to her new place where repair, when she realized she was not alone: a child was walking in the road and Emma glanced at her from the bushes. The child, the girl, seemed to be alone and she wondered if her house was close or if she was one of those strays like she had been. It wasn't her problem. She decided to ignore her and even managed a few steps before stopping. "Oy, kid! This road ain't safe for you alone."
