currently writing some fun scenes where joe is trying to parent and eobard is like hmm, this could interfere with my Schemes. better intervene. so barry sees him turn on the charm to smoothly lie to joe's face and twist the situation in his favour and he's like hmmmmmm. eobard sure is good at manipulating people. not me though.

in honour of the minor resurgence of that post i made about my young flash au, behold! young flash returns!
a brief reminder: young flash is a canon divergent fic in which eobard sets off the particle accelerator just a few years after murdering barry's mother, so that barry becomes the flash at the age of 14, making him far easier to manipulate (though as we will see in this instalment, working with a teenage speedster has its disadvantages. eobard may or may not be regretting his life decisions).
Summary: Barry has a near-fatal run-in with Kyle Nimbus, aka The Mist, and is (somewhat violently) saved by Eobard. Now, not only is Eobard mad at him for his reckless behaviour, but Barry has to explain to Iris why he suddenly sounds like he smokes 40 cigarettes a day. His answer? Because he does. Duh.
Unfortunately, he now has to prove it.
pleased to announce i've once again become obsessed with my young flash verse where eobard triggers the accelerator explosion to turn barry into the flash a decade earlier, meaning that barry becomes a superhero at approximately age 14, and instead of impersonating harrison wells to get close to barry, eobard really leans into the mentorship thing by infiltrating barry's school and becoming his science teacher, meaning that they're running the entire team flash operation from a high school science lab. joe has no idea about any of it. len is also sometimes around, keeping an eye out for barry as like the anti-eobard in a similar kind of mentorship role, but less fucked up, but still a bit fucked up bc it's len. he's definitely also a terrible role model but he's at least TRYING to do right by this stubborn idiot teenage speedster who won't let him rob a fucking bank in peace
might just start posting the snippets on AO3 for funsies as kind of interconnected scenes within the same story. not gonna try and wrestle it into a cohesive start-to-finish narrative cos that would get out of hand real fast lmao.

A reminder: my Young Flash AU is a lil collection of snippets and short scenes based on the concept that Eobard triggered the particle accelerator explosion about a decade earlier than he did in show canon, turning Barry into the Flash as a teenager. Instead of posing as Harrison Wells, Eobard then takes a position as a physics teacher at Central City High in order to get close to Barry, and various shenanigans ensue.

the first snippet takes place on barry's first day of high school (which he's starting months after everyone else on account of having been in a coma during the first few months of school).
i've also created a quick summary post to give everyone the rundown (pun intended) on the basic context and premise of this timeline, which you can find here. i hope things should be mostly self-explanatory, but since these are random snippets straight out of my head that don't fit together cohesively, i figure the extra context can't hurt

well the first young flash instalment went down like a lead balloon but that won't stop me bc im already thinking about the next snippet which will be based off that scene where barry inhales kyle nimbus's poisonous fog and almost asphyxiates except in this version barry is 14 and scared and is forced to undergo amateur trauma surgery by his creepy physics teacher without anaesthetic and then has to go straight back to class after :)
