Living out of spite used to mean being all emo and immaturely rebellious
Living out of spite now means being happy and finding peace against the odds of this world
Budokai 3: Calm Before Storm
(C.F) Prompt 10 / Prompt 30 / Prompt 31 - ♫Brick by Brick♫
Stationed tents were positioned and set up while the showdown was scheduled at high noon when the house of a blazing sun’s glory hit the hottest point but more importantly it’d focus and illuminate over a dark pit below the stadium for Six Layers. The crew rejoiced in delicacies and shade while their leading Captains prepared themselves for repentance. The Seeker injuries remained concurrent from his assault a fresh short sun’s ago. Not even a grimace or wince he’d afford to show. Truthfully he wasn’t a hundred percent but the stakes were pressed in, he couldn’t back out. Just like previously learned, that butterfly that reflected his spiritual journey didn’t quit even with a clipped wing. Once a lion now just a measly insect trying to survive a mountain bear alongside a whole fucking winter, figuratively. No chance – written on the pattern of his design to win this showdown. There was a record of authenticity when it came to major independent battles with no aid or help, the Captain of Goldbrand faltered at every stage. He hadn’t ever achieved anything by his name alone against those of his high seas. Hence why he was continuously unable to make a huge enough splash to impact anything. Constantly struggling mentally and physically with inadequacy because of the ignorance of his faults, and fears all those shortcomings that just by a mere glimpse outsider saw. Such irony is a man capable of seeing qualities of many and retrieving locations of timeless treasures and recovering them, yet unable to ever grasp himself. Always lacking. Missing something. Never once complete. While with the recent changes of his life and actual warm crew that were above witnessing and actually supporting him in this turmoil and his consistent effort to be just something, decent.
I WROTE THE FLUFF HEHE, lemme know if there's any spelling errors or what not, I didn't proof read this time LMAO I just wanted to get this idea written out and posted asap
Summary: Young Stans vs Old Stans post nightmare comfort reading (because Stan would definitely take comfort in Ford reading to him)
Age 10: A quiet sob bubbled up the small boy's throat as he curled up in bed, having just woken from a nightmare. He wanted to yell for his brother, but before he could, the bed above him shifted. Small feet dangled for a second before catching the ladder, and Ford was quick to climb down. No words were exchanged, the routine was already well known to both boys. The lamp was turned on and Ford retrieved a book off the shelf before finally climbing in next to his brother. Stanley shifted so he was laying between his twins legs, head nuzzled into one of his thighs. The other boy began to read quietly, occasionally reaching a hand down to pet Stan's hair, making him hum contentedly. It wasn't long before the boy fell asleep like that and Ford smiled when quiet snores emitted from him.
"Goodnight Stan, I love you."
The words were quiet, and he knew his twin hadn't heard them but he meant it. Ford stayed up and finished the book, thankful that Stanley slept through the rest of the night peacefully.
Age 60: Stan jerked up in bed with a shout and felt tears begin to fall. He crawled out of bed and stumbled down to his brother's room, he felt ridiculous but maybe the other man would understand. Well he hoped he would at least. Knuckles softly thudded on the door and his twin grumbled from inside, so he creaked the door open.
"Can I uh.. can I come in please?"
He cursed himself for the way his voice cracked and wavered, knowing it gave away that he'd been crying. The other man's eyes widened before he nodded.
"You alright Stanley?"
Even though he wanted to lie, say he just was bored or something, he shook his head no and sniffled, climbing onto the couch and pulling his knees to his chest.
"I had a nightmare, I just.. Do you remember when we were kids? How you'd read to me whenever I had a nightmare?"
Ford smiled fondly and nodded.
"That what you came down here for?"
He mumbled a quiet yes and his brother chuckled. He got to his feet and searched for a book for a minute before returning and patting his lap. Stan immediately crawled over and laid his head in the other man's lap, humming to himself when his brother rested his hand in his hair. Occasionally he'd gently scratch the man's scalp or play with his hair, and would glance to see if he was still awake. Sadly, Stan doubted he would fall back asleep, but it just gave his brother an excuse to read out loud, which was nice. When the book neared it's end and the sun peaked through the windows, a loud snore finally filled the room, and Ford chuckled, closing the book and setting it aside. He'd be lying if he said he didn't miss this, no matter how mad he had been when he first got back, it was good to reunite with Stan. Suddenly, the bigger man shifted and now Ford could see the scar on his back that peaked out from under the thin tank top his brother had on. He let his fingers softly graze it while he frowned. There was a lot of things they had left to fix between them, but honestly? To have this back, to have his brother back, it would be worth it.
So I've made my own version
How it started vs how it’s going 🥺
