I did another art of younger!cryptid and Dream :D

Bro I love this style, this took me only 30 minutes

and they so freaken adorable

I drew this because I had angsty ideas for this au and want to atone before I completely ruin there lives again

it involes prison trio all being a room at the same time so you know that’ll end well.

and I suppose actually I haven’t fully figured out how it’ll end yet, i just have ideas

It's been a week or two since they got fresh air after all.

in this au, Cryptid got brought in when they were asleep, they wake up and -completely fairly- freak the fuck out. But when they do calm down(it takes about 4 hours of struggle) they want to go outside.

They feel a bit stupid about how much the do.

But hey. Apparently in this new world it isn't December. So hopefully they can get some fresh air. I mean Wren and Dream don't seem to be trying to contain them persay.

Yes this is another au of Dreaming of death, I'm sorry I keep making so many but I had this idea and immediately had to make it a reality because oh boy would it be... interesting

And change quite a bit I think.

For context, this Cryptid is 8 years old

Cryptid at 8 is a very different person to Cryptid at the start of canon Dreaming of death.

I'm probably gonna go do some more sketches of this little au because mmmmmm but I just wanted to post this first

Also by the way, they're 3'8, so they literally go up to Wren's elbow. And while they would hate being squished, if they wouldn't bite you, they'd be very squishable.

I feel like this would make a good sticker. i don’t make stickers, but I feel like this would make a good one

also, they chomping is an unhealthy thing to do, and Cryptid DOES feel bad for any harm they cause people, biting, scratching or otherwise

they just have….. they have their ”reasons” and those ”reasons” are irrational

when I said they are a mess I meant that

anyway sorry for the hit of seriousness I just wanted to make sure no one thought I was going ”look at the silly! they hurt people sometimes don’t worry it’s just part of their silliness” because I’m not

in this particular drawing they aren’t causing harm, but they do sometimes and I not just brushing over that

Wren's kinda more like a mother to this Cryptid. Sorta. More parental figure vibes rather then sibling vibes.

Dream has tentative co-parenting rights.

Cryptid rejects either of them as family in anyway for....... about 2 days.

They curl up at Wren's side a lot. And they aren't fucking comfortable ok!? They don't like any of these people. Fuck off.

(they are very attached. But trying not to be. It is is failing)

Also Wren telling them that maybe just maybe they shouldn't swear makes them swear like a damn sailor even though before all this they would swear at all even when really mad.

They absolutely do it just because they were told not to.

Oh also as a plot thing, things go very different. Wren and Dream are dealing with a volatile 8 year old, they don't really have the time or space to do the revive book experiments. At least not for a while longer.

To me one really tragic thing about Cryptid in any au is just how much they want to trust the adults in their life. And how much they want to be saved for once. How much they want that just this once an adult will actually be able to help them.

Main dod!Cryptid has already mostly given up on this. But they still long for it. It's why they get so attached to Sam and Quackity. They feel broken, so their pleading with the universe that maybe this once they can trust an adult(other than Wren). They know it's stupid. Especially with Quackity. But god damnit. They just want to be fixed. And Quackity's just persuasive enough to make himself seem at least a bit sympathetic. (They feel so so bad that to them, they got him tortured and killed again)

Younger!dod!Cryptid bitterly thinks that adults should actually be helping them, but again. They don't have much hope. Wren and Dream help though. Sure Dream is a mess and sometime they hate him, but h's at least trying and halfway succeeding.

And dre's little ghost!Crypt actually does implicitly trust adults. They are only proven that this is justified by Cala and Dre.

And uhhhhhhh dre's little ghost!Cryptid is... Well I won't spoil their stuff!

Anyway I just wanted to ramble for a bit about my babies but I'ma go to bed now :D

Bro idk what to do about younger!cryptid’s pronouns

like in the future they will definately use they/them because they’ll have the whole gender figureing out thing in a couple years

but rn gender is NOT something they even really process and they definately look like a little girl as well. But using she/her just feels….. wrong. like i feel like I’m misgendering them -which i kinda am, but not really- and fem terms are the same way

like meta wise I can stick to they/them and gn terms easily but actually writing anything becomes a problem

I know if do write stuff, I’m probably just going to have to bite the bullet and use she/her, that’s what makes sense, but idk just feels weird.

advice/ideas would be appreciated if you guys have any :/
