I wouldn't invite H upstairs then 😅🙄 Might give them a heart attack...

I currently don't have that as an option, but I have these two that might fit:

(Very rough sketch version of the two apartment decoration options)

-> Research focused and functional

Experiments and equipment line the tables and workstations. Not an inch of your apartment is without use and function. Book and papers have their area, and the rest of the apartment is for the practical sciences. There are two chairs available for guests and clients, and that is all the comforts you offer your guests. The impression of your residence is all work, no play. And you prefer it that way.

-> Untidy.

It's not so much a style—as a lifestyle. When you get home, you drop your coat or bag on your sofa or the floor. And after a while, it piled up. News- and research papers line the ground. Books line the walls. Everything else line whatever it can. It's chaos, but it's your chaos. And at least this way, you know where everything is—most of the time.

Soo, uh, which one fits the “cluster-fuck of drugs, alcohol, scientific equipment and books” style best? 😅

Spoilers for all the planned room types:

-> Modern. (for the the victorian era)

-> French. (the french style)

-> Futuristic. (modern modern)

-> Vintage. (baroque)

-> Cosy.

-> Research focused and functional

-> Untidy.

Some other I am thinking about are:

-> Sparse

-> Eastern influences

-> Dark and unearthly

But I’m still tinkering with it all :)

A Room of Their Own: Teenage bedrooms from the 1980s

When you share a bedroom with a sibling you’re not too bothered about privacy, well, that is until you start growing hair down there or get tired of their taste in music/jokes/conversation or maybe just their lack of personal hygiene. I shared a bedroom with my brother until I was in my teens when our parents moved up a rung to a quiet leafy terrace by the edge of a river. We then got rooms of our own. He was older so had first dibs and unselfishly picked the larger of the two. I got the six by ten study-cum-nursery-cum-guest room which still had some of its old yellow wallpaper of puppy dogs and cats and orange-winged butterflies. Like every other brat, I soon covered the walls with posters and photographs and newspaper clippings—just like the kinda stuff youngsters keep on their smartphones today. I was under the mistaken belief I was expressing some unacknowledged aspect of my personality rather than just giving free advertising to rich people who didn’t really need it.
