When Effie first met Finnick Odair, he flustered her, to say the least. He flaunted his body and his charm like a weapon, and his smile invaded the room and filled it with light, even though Effie noticed the sparkle of his white teeth never quite reached his eyes.
Personal space was relative to Finnick, and he had swept in and pressed up close to her side, leaning into her shoulder in a crowded ball room, holding out a small white cube,
"Would you like a sugar cube?" he’d asked.
In the dress she wore, Effie couldn’t move away for the crowd pressing in, the ball room far too small for the amount of people invited.
"No, thank you." she replied, voice tense. He was shirtless, wearing nothing but a short white toga that revealed much of his bronze, perfect skin. "Your stylists are quite ambitious, Mr. Odair."
He laughed, slinking around to stand before her, less than inches away. “Yes, they do like to show off, I’m afraid they’re losing points for originality, however. But how rude of me! I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced, Miss Trinket. I’ve heard quite a lot about you, as you seem to have about me. Are you sure you won’t take a sugar cube? A lady as sweet as I have observed you to be should allow herself a little…decadence.”
His wink made her blush, but thankfully, a rather loud voice from her right drew Effie’s attention away and she offered Finnick a patient, but relieved smile.
"I’m afraid I haven’t the time for decadence, Mr. Odair. If you’ll excuse me, I do believe Haymitch has got himself into a tight spot. He doesn’t do well in crowds." And with that, she slipped through the crowd in a flurry of pink feathers.
the finnicks got favorite songs of mine. like what.
