Head-Canons: Bones
Based on the Nate’s song ‘Bones’. obviously these are not canon character traits, but this is how I will be writing him for this blog! The name Bones I simply got from the video that inspired him.
Hope you Enjoy!!
~ Bones is actually made of two entities. The name ‘Bones’ refers to the physical body the two sides use. Whoever is acting as “the driver” can be heard and seen by people in the physical world.
~ These two sides are what use to make Bones whole as a single person. They call themselves Coy and Vigorous.
~ Coy is the quiet one. He is not a coward or fearful, he is rather determined and cunning. But he prefers not to get noticed. He doesn’t like causing trouble but will defend himself if he needs too. Coy usually has plans set for every scenario. Including back-up escape routes and possible lies/distractions to talk his way out of sticky situations. Sometimes sociable, he’s usually the one who takes the lead if Bones needs to talk with people.
~ Vigorous is strong, menacing. He’ll take down an army by himself and won’t stop until he has finished what he started. When the two sides need something done quick and ruthlessly; Vigorous is the one that immediately takes the driving seat. Though he is aggressive towards threats; he has respect for others and won’t bother someone unless he needs too. Just don’t get in his way. You will barely have a first warning.
~ Vigorous is always getting into trouble. He’s always bruised and beaten. But Bones doesn’t feel pain. Even if they take damage and the body is left in a crumpled heap; they can get up a few minutes later and go again.
~ However, Coy is the one usually left to serve the consequences of Vigorous’ actions. Vigorous goes into a sleep like state to leave the physical body to deal with whatever punishment is given. Coy will try to plead innocence or talk his way out of it; but also knows that the body will need to accept the consequences so everyone involved can move on. Hence the phrase:
“You can give and take Crack my bones but my heart won’t break now Don’t commit no crime Find me innocent but still I serve my time”
~ Even though they share a physical body; the two do argue. A lot. Two sides to the same coin that clash constantly on decisions. But to survive, they will listen to the other. Coy cannot make ruthless or hard choices; Vigorous will have to step in to save their body and make sure they survive.
~ Vigorous has a hard time understanding certain emotions like grief or sympathy. Coy seems to hold the empathy between the pair and if emotions would better their chances at survival; Coy will step in to help.
~ Both sides reside inside Bones’ mind-space. But can see one another as physical bodies. They converse mostly through the mind-space but sometimes speak to one another as if they were two people in the physical world.
~ In their mind-space it can closely resemble the area in the video. A dark bunker like set of rooms. They have a small table that the sides sit and discuss things at. Time works differently in their mind. Depending on what they wish, the sides can speed up time or slow time. Both in and outside their body. But both have to agree for this ability to work.
~ The physical body will stand/sit/lay emotionless while both sides are not driving. Almost as if the body is dead. But it has a pulse and breath.
~ Those in the physical world could tell them apart simply by their mannerisms and some small details on the body.
~ However, if the two sides aren’t careful, a reflective surface can show the spiritual side. A mirror will display the side that is in the mind instead of physical side. So the two need to act similarly when around windows or anything with a reflective surface.
~ The pair see each other as a reflection of what they use to be, or could be in the future. Neither remember which side was dominant when Bones was whole; before they were split into two personalities.
~ The two also have noticed that their body does not age or deteriorate. It can become broken or sick; but they do not feel the symptoms or the damages. They do not know if they will die or if their memories will fade into nothing over time. Hence the phrase:
“Am I forever young Or will I simply fade before I’m old The mirror’s always showing me A shell of who I used to be”
~ Coy has a schedule written out on their Discussion Table to remind them that the body needs to eat and use the bathroom. Vigorous has many times groaned loudly in frustration when he hears Bones’ stomach growl. And Coy finds showering a pleasurable act. Vigorous has to force him to leave a hot shower after an hour of standing under the spray.
~ Both can feel adoration for objects and people. But they’re very awkward at first since sometimes they forget how flirting/friendship works. They become very protective of friends and loved ones. And are rather thoughtful.
