well now I want to read that essay, any chances of you posting it?

I mean, I probably will post it on the internet eventually. I’m gonna re-read it again when I’m calmer though, just to make sure that there’s some actual content between the rage-fuelled ranting lol. And I’m not really sure this is the right place for it? Let’s face it, most of you came here for the Tony Stark content (and if you didn’t, I’m not really sure what you’re doing here?). I’m considering building another blog where I’m free to focus on fandom things in general (I have several other topics in mind that I’d like to address at some point) and maybe fangirl about other fandoms I like as well. But if I post it I can absolutely share the link on here, if you’re interested!

Yes, absolutely! I’m counting on you to!!! :) Yeah, occasionally the thrall is irresistible. And honestly, I think it’s good to also read things that upset you and challenge you and force you to think about things in different ways. It’s important. That doesn’t mean it feels particularly nice. But hey, at least I feel like my arguments are getting better and better with every post I read lol

im inclined to agree with you and that could definitely be a possibility, but canonically--at least right now--Jim’s greatest fear is what he met in the Deep and that’s what i was going off of

I was at work, so I wasn’t able to answer your question until now.

There are sort of (but not really) two kinds of Rainbow Serpents. There’s the African kind, and the Australian kind.

The African kind consist mainly of the Deity Aido-Hwedo and the Vodou Loa Ayida-Weddo and Damballah.

From what I can tell, Aido-Hwedo seems to be the precursor of both of the Loa, since its name is more akin to the former, while the serpent itself is often depicted as a male, like that latter.

I don’t know nearly as much about them as I would like, but they are essentially primordial and sky deities, having associations with both the sky (and rainbows) and snakes.

Now, this would be the “not really” kind of Rainbow Serpent. While they are serpents which are rainbow, the term “Rainbow Serpent” is intended for the ones from Australia.

The Rainbow Serpent of Australian belief is a creator deity associated with the Aborigine concept of Dreamtime and with water. Dreamtime is not something I am very familiar with, so my very brief, and probably wrong, summary is that it’s an Aborigine belief of sort of a place/time that exists outside of our own, and stories associated with this belief.

The Rainbow Serpent itself is both a male and female figure, sometimes depicted with breasts, and sometimes having the head of another animal, like a kangaroo. As I mentioned before it is associated with water, and it can be both an entity which brings water in the form of rain, or an entity which withholds it.

TL;DR Rainbow Serpents are, for the desperate want of a better term, a very old sort of ““““““dragon*”““““““ associated very slightly with Africa, but primarily with the Australian Aborigines.

*Dragon here being used to mean “Mythical Reptile; especially a serpent.” Once again, I wish we had a better singular word for this.

Likes/Hobbies: Wood carving, napping by the fireplace, horseback riding, growing plants/gardening, friendly sparring, a good drink with friends, brotherhood bonds

Dislikes: Excessive brutality/violence, tangles in beard, spilled mead, upper class elitism, nightmares

Nah, I'm as spanish as you can get, siesta every now and then included (which is probably why I can't sleep now).

Haha, then we’re pretty much cousins! I’m Italian and currently sorta stuck in the UK but hey. (According to legend my grandmother's family was Spanish. Meaning that it’s just what my great-great-grandmother said, but she also believed she was the reincarnation of a Chinese Empress so you see the problem there.)

If you are comparing Nastagio's love story with Draal and Nomura's you are one twisted being (but I am a sucker for foreshadowing so, meh).

Actually, yes, i am. It’s like the whole point of this picture. And i love all kind of symbolism.

But with Dromura i think (i hope) it’s more believable there’s “whatever had happend here, it’s the outcast woman who must be blamed” kind of narrative. And it’s like more believable considering their romance being more medieval?
