Yui had that look in her eyes, one she definitely inherited from Momo. She was thinking, and very hard at that. Mina was laying on the ground next to the excited toddler who seemed to be planning her next move. Mina loved to see her daughter like this, she looks forward to telling Momo about everything she missed during the day.
Planting her chubby fingers in the ground, Yui supported herself as she tried to stand up. She's been doing that a lot lately, and it blows Mina's mind that her baby girl is making such strides at a young age. It felt like she just started crawling yesterday, and now she's trying to stand on her own.
Who know how long until she tried to walk?
After three attempts, Yui was standing in two legs, her weight shifting between her two legs. Mina sat up and moved closer, as if tempting her little one to be brave. "Come here, Yui-chan. Come to mommy." Hearing her name, Yui tilted her head, her smile wide as she tried to move only to lose her balance and fall over.
Mina's first instinct was to steady her, but Yui was already back up, confused toddler sounds leaving her mouth. Mina had to bite back a laugh when she lifted her leg up and down, as if telling to mimic walking, only to your her attention back to Mina. She wanted to be held, wanted to be cuddled by her mommy.
"Are you gonna try again, baby?"
Yui tilted her head again, she knew she was being addressed. With her hands out towards Mina, she made grabby hands, so focused on her mother, she didn't realize she was moving until she was able to grab her shirt.
Mina held her breath the whole time, while it was only four steps, it was all Yui needed to be at her lap. "Yui! Oh my goodness, my talented baby." Mina couldn't help but swoop her up and shower her face with kisses. Her daughters giggles music to her ears.
Setting her back down she wanted to see if she would do it again, this time with her phone out. It was back to square one, Yui still trying to find her balance, but she managed a few steps each time.
Satisfied with the footage, Mina picked Yui up again, knowing that with the energy she used that she was going to be hungry very soon. Besides Momo should be coming home in the next hour or so. "Let's get some food in your tummy, hmm?" Another kiss to Yui's cheek, as Mina brought them into the kitchen, seating Yui in her special chair where she could see her mommy at all times.
Yui, just like her mother, was very food driven. Just being in the kitchen made her open up trying almost anything, and Mina was very clever with masking vegetables in her fruit purees.
Between food prep and feeding Yui, she was able to slip dinner into the oven and keep Yui from being fussy the whole time. Sure she could use magic, but she wanted to cherish her time with Yui.
"There you two are." Momo's tired voice entered the kitchen, and Yui's eyes lit up upon seeing her other mother. Making grabby hands, she waited as Momo pressed a kiss to Mina's cheek before taking over. "My little wyrm." Momo teased, helping Yui up and out of her seat. The nickname was silly but full of affection. Mina rolled her eyes every time Momo uses it, saying that Yui is going to think that it's her actual name at this rate.
"Let's give mommy a break, hmm?" Momo's baby voice made Yui burst into giggles, her fingers playing in Momo's hair. "Is it too early for a nap?" She asked Mina, she knew Yui's sleep schedule better than she did.
"Dinner will be ready in an hour, but I'll wake you both up. Can you check her diaper before you both pass out? Please and thank you."
Saluting her wife, Momo marched herself and Yui up stairs to her nursery. A long earned nap for both of them long overdue.
