When: Early August
Where: The Arctic
July had been hot and slow. Charlotte felt like she had really started to settle back into the flow of life in Port Leiry. She spent most of her time working but her free time had mostly been dedicated to Jace, Abuela, or checking in with her coven.
But that didn’t stop her coming home to a mostly barren apartment every night. She remembered a time where she used to be a nester. Knick-knacks on every shelf, art all over the walls, well-loved books scattered about. But most of her stuff had been discarded when she had gotten married and after….running wasn’t a lifestyle that lent itself to accumulating keepsakes.
But she was settled now, Port Leiry was her home, and still she didn’t know why she couldn’t get herself to start making her apartment a home.
It was a Monday night, Jaya had given her the evening off, it was a fun little quirk of their’s where sometimes they just wouldn’t open the bar. She adored her boss but the way Jaya El-Amin ran a business in a way she suspected only Jaya El-Amin could sustain and still call a success.
So she had taken the morning to surf, spend time in the water, and in her super healthy want to be anywhere but her apartment, she had taken use of the beach showers to rinse off and was now sitting on a bar stool at the Arctic.
The sound shook the walls even on a weekday. She had her leather jacket on over her bikini top and the shorts she had come in. All in all it felt very beach rock. She sipped on a G&T as she surveyed the crowd, just letting herself get lost in the atmosphere. That was until she spotted the back of a head she hadn’t seen in years…
She was off the stool and across the room faster than she really noticed. As she tapped the shoulder of the woman she it had been 20 years but as the woman turned it was like a face out of time, “Yui is that you?”
