001. Her father used to tell her that when things got tough Leóns got tougher. First born of a political marriage between a Lindon and a León, many started to disregard the mixed bloodline as unimportant when Charlotte was born deaf. While her mother was unhappy, her father often pushed through attempting to flavour Charlotte’s world. He loved music and would often play the guitar while bouncing Charlotte on his knee.
002. By the age of 9 Charlotte’s mother was gone. Dead or Fled they didn’t know. But Charlotte was happy. She had her father, music, and the Beach. A love Charlotte had found for herself. A force that called to her in a rhythm only she could hear. Dancing to its own unspeakable rhythm.
003. Her younger sibling completed their small family. They didn’t have much but they had each other.
004. Charlotte got her first job at 14 running drinks at a small bar in town. She wanted to help her Papa and she wanted to be around the people and the music. People had always said she was mature for her age and the owner didn’t question the foraged ID when he had hired her.
005. She had always been relatively popular in school. A regular busy body, one foot in every club. Despite her method of communication being different people always seemed to enjoy being around her. Bubbly, some might say.
006. Disaster struck at 15. Her Father was dead, run off the road. It was just her and her sibling. Orders came from multiple sides, but Charlotte wouldn’t have it, wouldn’t loose her entire family in one swoop. Her Father’s life insurance policy went into legal battles. She picked up all the work she could, anything to keep her and them together and afloat. So when the contract was placed in front of her, marriage to anyone of their choosing as soon as her sibling reached majority in exchange for them being left alone until that point, Charlotte took it. Signed her future freedom over for a small slice of it now. Her first Devil’s Bargain.
007. She worked and worked and worked. Few of the people at school remembered her aside from her stellar performances in her classes. She had not time for extracurriculars now. One made more of an effort than the others but he had his own struggles to…. his own family.
008. When she was 20, associates degree in hand, she moved herself and her sibling to Savannah. To be around Lindons. That’s where she met Jace and a piece of herself slipped into a place she didn’t even know was missing. She doted on her younger cousin. Offering softness when it was often turned away. Jace became an intrinsic part of her family.
009. She cried at her sibling’s graduation. They had grown up, were going to college. There little family had made it and while it had come time to pay the piper, Charlotte wouldn’t trade the pride she had for them for the world.
010. She hadn’t bothered to look into who they had sold her too. The wedding had occurred at a breakneck pace. She didn’t know the danger she was in until she was left alone with her spouse on their honeymoon. She was trapped, alone, and no one was looking for her screams.
011. She had always been good at arts and crafts. And soon it was only Jace and her sibling who would visit, letters stopped coming. Charlotte had always known she was tied to the ocean, they at least appreciated that. Appreciated how she could feel the tides and currents. Even alter them at times. Movement and particles. Surfing and Night clubs. Two things she couldn’t have in the tower she was locked in. Where she had been left with them.
012. She hadn’t understood what he had always preferred about objects with metal ends. Charlotte had lost count of the times they had stuck her with the tipped cane. Only knew that this downward slope was the last. As hands came up and particles fizzled, she watched the person she had been tied to boil.
013. With the blood on her hands she called the one number her father had left her in case of emergencies, her Abuela @arcibarra . Together they removed Charlotte from the aftermath of killing a major member of one of the East Coasts largest underworld shipping organizations.
014. After a year of laying low, Charlotte has come back to Port Leiry. While always at the edge of the coven, recent events have been indicative of a Coven emergency. And Charlotte will do anything for family.
Wanted Connection:
Her younger Sibling: Someone she has helped raise since she was young. Could be a full sibling could be a half from either parent. @sybellaleon
Her Spouse’s Family: An important Easter Coast family that could have put a TideWitch to use. Maybe they are angry about her spouse’s murder, maybe they are happy that branch has ended
Friends from Work: Charlotte has thrown herself back into her life of odd jobs after her marriage. While she works regularly at Obsidian and Growden, she will pick up shifts anywhere. She likes to be busy. So have a shift you need someone to take or noticed she served both your drinks and handed you that latest copy of your favourite fantasy series, yeah you probably did.
