I'm writing this on a subway train

Jounouchi's head lay sideways as he slung over the edge of Yugi's bed. The light of the little attenae TV flickered in Yugi's wide eyes as his sprites bounced across the screen. Colors of violet and blue and pink made crystalline kaleidoscope that fractured from his pupils. The edges of his eyes mooned upward, his wide smile pushing up his cheeks.

The clock beside his bed showed low numbers. Last Jounouchi had looked it'd been just past two. Yugi had bought a new video game and invited Jounouchi to play with him. He explained the story as they took the bus to Kame Game, and they both booted it up in excitement. Pizza had been ordered, snacks devoured, and they'd rode the sugar high into the night. Jounouchi hadn't meant to crash. In the dim light of the room, the soft light of dawn crept through the window's blinds.

He considered moving, but that seemed impossible with the weight of the blankets on him. His lips parted to talk to Yugi, but a dry breath escaped, and he swallowed. Nope, no talking. Even repositioning the sloping pillow didn't feel worth it. Yugi's full attention was on the game. He didn't even blink. The sprites on the screen were in a cave, and the electronic music blooped and bleeped in a gentle, soothing way. The blue light of the TV touched the blue light of dawn. It convened around Yugi's head, touching the magenta and yellow highlights like a crown.

Yugi must've felt his gaze. He turned his head, eyes squinting as they tried to refocus.

"Jounouchi?" he said. "Are you watching?"

"I'm right here, bud," he croaked out.

Yugi smiled again and swung back around. Jounouchi watched the characters bounce to the gentle rhythm of the 16bit music. His eyelids grew heavy again, and the sounds and the light made a cozy cocoon. Jounouchi felt safe and sound right here.

I have nothing new to say through ch.21, but look at Yuuji's clown shoe and how he didn't push ijichi out of the way. like Ijichi's reaction is so different (from the anime) here it's funny.

also back to the watching movies scene chapter (ik I've mentioned most of this before but probably not all in the same post? idk. my goal is to organize all of these analysis into another place, bc if tumblr goes down I will simply start over I live for jjk meta)- in the anime it was a slightly different scene on the TV, like the "I wouldn't leave you. I'll never betray you" or something. but here it's Frodo (Yuuji is like the ring-bearer, which is to be alone) calling for Sam, like when Yuuji was calling for anyone, just before Todo shows up. Gojo appears behind Yuuji like a ghost (he doesn't know about his CT yet), which seems in reference to Gojo's ghost appearing late in the manga. (which, again, Yuuji knew nothing about).

Jounouchi can’t think much past the hangover he’s nursing. Yugi’s face across the table is a welcome constant though. Despite, or perhaps, because of what transpired just hours earlier.

He tries to focus on the burger before him but his mind is transported back to the dark nightclub, the thrum of music and the cascade of lights that surrounded them as Yugi leaned in and Jounouchi gently closed the distance between their mouths. He vaguely remembers the song. But he can’t forget the soft skin and the aching rightness of their bodies intertwining.

He could chalk it up to drunkenness, but the fact that he still can’t keep his eyes off the other’s lips is telling enough and well, Jounouchi’s never really been one to shy away from pleasure.

He lifts a fry from his tray and extends it out to Yugi who didn’t order any and has hardly touched his burger, seeming more focused on staying awake and upright.

Yugi looks up in surprise, and is about to pluck the fry from the other’s fingers with his own, but Jounouchi stops him, instead bringing it up to the shorter man’s mouth, until it just grazes his lips. “Let me,” Jounouchi says.

“I can feed myself Jounouchi,” Yugi replied.

“I know, but this the closest I can get to kissing you again in public,” Jounouchi confessed.

Yugi’s eyes widened in surprise and pleasure, but he didn’t object further, allowing Jounouchi to slide the fry past his lips until his thumb glides over the soft skin of them.
