🍒 "Unchained Love" - Thoughts 🍒

I finished watching this and enjoyed it much more than expected! :D

The first episode was very dark-themed, so I was surprised that it was labelled as a comedy on My Drama List, but the mood changed in ep.2, and, from then on out, it alternates between dark and funny. Also, in general, the first half of the drama is funny and the second half is tense, but it's good all throughout.

Really good tension between the two leads, and the development of the relationship was fun to watch. Lots of interesting characters; seeing the development of some of them throughout the drama was interesting, too, and well done.

A LOT of scenes were cut, a lot of shippy scenes, so, if you watch, make sure to check out [this forum thread] on MDL for those + the extended ending and epilogue at the bottom of the OP. There's a twitter thread linked near the top that compiles cut scenes by episode; I recommend watching those at the end of each episode instead of all at the end of the show.

The first half especially has some brilliant lines! FL Bu Yinlou's questionable compliments of ML Xiao Duo were amusing:

"You think I establish order with my face?" "Yes."

Other great lines:

I bailed from Forbidden Love when it was airing because it was boring and didn’t feel like the novel but I randomly peeked at a late ep and sometime between my bailing and the end, it went seriously hardcore unhinged and my jaw dropped open!

I swear to god that whole set up with Peter Ho leering up Dylan’s neck and Yukee is clinging on the other side looks like a bdsm threesome :P

Ahem. Censors won’t allow it, my boy!

OK this is official creepystan and Peter Ho is clearly having too much fun chewing the scenery.
