Excuse me how did you make the stars on that space boy panting? Which by the way was really awesome (:
step my step, this is how i do my watercolors :.゚ヽ(´∀`。)ノ゚.:。+゚
material i use: strathmore watercolor paper 9inX12in, masking tape, assorted sizes of paint brushes(fine detail brush, meduim brush,) water color paint, water color cakes, fine 0.4 stabilo ink pens, lots and lots of tissues
step 1. line i line the water color paper with masking tape, i measure like 1/2 inch from the edge. this gives your painting, when done, a very neat ,finished look. also the corners dont fold in and wrinkle. but this is mostly if you plan on filling the entire page, like i did for the space boy
step 2. sketch. i sketch in mechanical pencil, its easier to erase after inking. i don t fill in much shading, just basic lines.
step 3. ink. i line the pencil with stabilo pens, they come in many many colors (and were really cheap too!! only $1 per pen at a shop i go to). i had to know before hand what colors i wanted to use for the base since base color determines what color ink should i line the watercolor, so i tested color combos on a separate paper, what inks worked with what water colors, with simplified repeated parts of the actual drawing.(so like, i redrew the hair in different color pens and colored it with different color watercolors) erase all pencil marks, it should look clean and neat now.
step 4. watercolor. time to color this bad boy. all i really do is fill in the lines like a coloring book.( i dont do many splatter or drip effects by personal creative choice) i fill in all the different parts. skin came first, then hair, clothing and then space background. the skin is actually mostly left untouched and is the white of the paper. the shading and blush is what give it color. really simple base colors, not much layering. (thats why its kinda pastely?)
step 5. galaxy watercolor .so after doing the boy, i did the background. its a wash of deep purple, dark blue, light blue, and peach like the boy's hair. i searched on YT for tutorials on galaxy watercolors casue frankly, i never tried a galaxy wash b4 so i didnt know what to do. the tutorials were helpful^^ so search those up if u want help on this part. its better explain through example than me writing it.
step 6. stars. i will say, however, that the stars were done by taking white paint or white water color paint, watering it so its liquidy, and then used a medium brush and flicked the brush against the stem of another brush. i use to do it with my finger, but it gets messy :0, watch this is its hard to visualize. (this is the tutorial i used btw)
now u r done!!!! wait for it to dry completely, and then take off the masking tape(i used a hairdryer on low cool settings to speed things up is the later stages or drying then its just damp) . put your school textbooks to good use and lay it under your heavy textbooks. wait a night and u r done!!, i would recommend spraying it with a sealer or coater since water colors can easily get damaged, but i dont have those things :/
hope this helps!! sorry its kinda really long to read, but hey, art isnt a easy thing. theres a lot of steps ^^;;;;
iscribble collab w yupiyo 2!! otgw is on 99 different levels of creepy and cute ((but mostly creepy)) wirt, beatrice, the rabbit, the fawn, the fox, and the beast was done by yupiyo!! greg, the raccoon, the dog, and the cat was by me
i got a new tablet finally!! work in progress of 1/3 characters (but the pen pressure isnt working so im gonna have to do pixel art for the time being。:゚(。ノω\。)゚・。)
