Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (4K Remaster), Yurushi, Usagi no Oyako, Hona Mata Ashita, Japanese Film Trailers
Welcome to the third and final trailer post for this week. The first post is here and the second post is here. This week I have watched Puppet Master (1989), Puppet Master 2 (1990), and Dead of Night (1945). I reviewed a special little film named Sumiko 22 and interviewed the film’s director, Sawako Fukuoka as part of Osaka Asian Film Festival coverage. My thanks to all involved, and my thanks…

Yurushi
Appearance
Yurushi is a Siberian Cat with fluffy light brown fur, although it looks more orange-brown in certain spots when the light hits them just right! They have big gray eyes that take up a lot of their face [they do have a mouth, it’s just hard to see. Like Pete the Cat]. They’re a bit on the skinny side but Sai feeds them well so they’re getting better each passing day! They have more fur of their ears and tail than their body for some reason. Their fur doesn’t grow that evenly. They have a bandage wrapped around their front left paw with a heart on it and Sai’s address in slightly messy handwriting (Yurushi was sick of staying still by then).
Personality
Yurushi is a very active cat, always climbing trees! They lived outside for most of their life so climbing up and down trees is no problem for them! They have a love for heights and the outdoors. They’re a very fearless, friendly, easy-going cat. They get along with Sai’s other pets very well. They’re not good at sitting still long enough for Sai to paint them though. They’re very affectionate and will let you pick them up (mostly when they’re tired) but not for long. They eat a lot of food and take frequent snack breaks because of all their activities.
Fun Facts
Yurushi is based off a canon cat character! In the first few episodes when we meet Sai, an ANBU delivers Sai’s alternate mission for Danzō to him. The ANBU hears something in the trees and throws a kunai but it’s just a cat. I felt bad for the cat and Sai is an animal lover so I figured that they should meet again and Sai would apologize and take him in and name him Yurushi!
Yurushi means Forgiveness! Sai technically didn’t hurt them but he feels bad about it anyway. When he apologizes, Yurushi cuddles against him as an accepting gesture so Sai names them forgiveness.
Later, when Sai legally adopts them he puts a simple pastel green collar on Yurushi with a tracking device in it and his information on it. For now, Yurushi’s bandage has Sai’s address scribbled on it just in case.
Yurushi is scared of knives and ANBU masks because of almost being stabbed by an ANBU
Yurushi stole Sai’s robes so frequently that Sai bought them their own pastel green one that they keep in their bed.
Yurushi frequently brings Sai gifts, which luckily usually end up being small sticks and leaves. Sai keeps them in a box.
Sai didn’t know what gender they were when he met them so he uses they/them. It stuck.
Yurushi’s gray eyes are based off Shin! His eyes were light colored in the manga but black in the anime so his eyes are three different shades of gray!
They don’t have a confirmed birthday so Sai celebrates it on July 7th (7/7) because he heard seven is a lucky number and Yurushi is a very good cat that deserves a lot of luck.
Yurushi’s favorite food is plain yogurt!
*slaps simple lil drawing* this good boy can fit SO many little headcanons and facts
