Past Cosplay Flashback: Yuuko (smoke kimono) 〰 Here's the belt/obi piece for my mom's outfit (@kabocha1013)! We drafted the pattern based on her measurements while wearing the one kimono. Unfortunately, I didn't know enough about pattern making to realise I should've made it curved, not just straight trapezoid pieces. It ended up not fitting very well 😯 〰 It's made of the same cotton/silk fabric, as well as some white fabric with white lace over top. There's plastic mesh inside as a stiffener. The gold cord and buttons were stitched on last, followed by the most hook and eyes I've ever had to hand sew at one time (Let's leave that for the car ride to the con, why don't we? And then run out and have to stop at Joann's on the way?!) Past Cosplay Flashback: Yuuko (smoke kimono #2!) 〰 Materials: Radiance silk/cotton in crimson, @JacquardProducts acrylic paints in white, black, and various metallic shades. The second full size kimono! The outer layer was all sewn up excerpt for the sleeves. The painting was done the same way as the first kimono, with a base layer of white followed by metallic colors, then outlined with black.
