Screen rant and CBR have m the worst articles ever. They’ll say something like DC just confirmed Nightwing is actually a terrible leader and then their reasoning is something stupid like “He asked a team member to stay behind because she was emotionally compromised, meaning he doesn’t trust his teammates!” or Tim Drake was the weakest Robin and this comic confirms it! And the evidence is just Tim getting the flu or something.
Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings: real good comfort food
So this is my absolute favorite food to make. It’s savory and just slightly sweet! It’s really delicious, really filling, and the wait and effort put into it makes it super gratifying to eat.
You’re gonna need
- crock pot/slow cooker
- frozen chicken
- frozen veggies
- salt
- spices of your choice (mine were garlic, minced onion, chili powder, and paprika)
- honey or brown sugar
- a carton of chicken broth
- drop biscuit recipe or baking mix (Recipe will be below)
So yo get started you throw the frozen things in the crock pot. You don’t need to thaw them which is the beauty of this recipe. Just dunk them in there. I usually use two chicken thighs and a moderate but not overwhelming amount of frozen veggies
Then you’re going to throw on your salt, spices, and honey/brown sugar. Put as much as you see fit, I usually go heavy with the salt, garlic, and onion and a little lighter with the others.
Next, dunk the carton of chicken broth on top.
I have mine set on high (4 hours; I’m an impatient bitch) and you’re going to let that cook for two hours or until the chicken is completely cooked through
When two hours are up, you’re gonna take the chicken out and use two forks to shred it
Once you got all your chicken into tiny bits toss it back into the pot.
Now you’re going to make your biscuits. The recipe I used calls for two cups flour, 1-3 tablespoons sugar, a bit of baking powder, milk and a half a stick of butter, soft. I fuck all these measurements real bad and just eyeball it so don’t worry too much.
I mix all the dry ingredients, mash the butter in, then add milk until it’s the consistency I want. You can alternatively use baking mix. I do not have that
Then you’re gonna take your dough in small chunks and drop it into the soup.
Drop all of it in. Aim to get all of it into the broth but don’t worry if it fills up fast. It means you’ll have a good helping of dumplings which are definitely my favorite part.
Maybe stir it GENTLY just to get broth onto the right spots and you’re pretty much done!! Cover it back up and let it cook for another 1.5 to 2 hours!
When that time is up, the dumplings will all be in a brick on top, so do a gentle stir to break them up. Not too much, but enough to get the chicken off the bottom!
