So Thayet being hella racially ambiguous is totally possible because the horses that Onua trades are totally Mongolian steppe horses, implying that the k'miri are supposed to be sorta Mongolian, which is great because the mongol empire was HECKA diverse. You you have everyone from Europeans to southeast Asian people who could be thayet's ancestors. Sorry, I just like horses :)
Tru!!! And Tammy herself has said that she pictures the K’mir, appearance-wise, to be a mix of real-world ethnicities (she’s stated Mongolian and Maya, I think), so that’s another reason for Thayet’s ethnicity to be very hard to identify just by looking at her.
