Xenoblade Chronicles 2 x Tales of Destiny because Swordians are basically already Blades in the ways that matter. Note: Swordians are backwards. They are a living sword with a core crystal. Chal's "body" is auxiliary at best.

Note: Judas is an involuntary blade eater. Chaltier gave him half of his core crystal to save his life. Generally, Chaltier does not have a tangible body. The body (in this setting) is a hologram-like projection. Thankfully, Jade fixes that later.

Chaltier is an artificial Earth (compassion) Blade! However, due to the way he is designed to hella sync with his driver when he DOES sync, something about his relationship with Leon has actually caused him to also gain the dark aspect (justice). 

Judas is armed to the teeth because he refrains from using Chaltier for violence, since Chaltier, being an inanimate object, can’t physically stop people from just picking him up and using him. That’s no good! Chal is fine with Judas wielding him! But he appreciates not being used as a tool for murder.

Yes, I did flip part of the guard around on Chaltier’s hilt to make it FUNCTIONAL. I will leave canon Chal be, but AU = my city now and we like our swords to be functional when possible. The normal (canon) design requires either  A) striking with the back of the blade if you want to have a functional guard that keeps your fingers from being sliced off, or B) holding him awkwardly so the guard presses against your wrist and hampers your movement. I don’t think Inomata understood the vital functions of these parts of a saber hilt when designing the Swordians, back in the day.

gee i want to write about hunter what a surprise

anyway wow. i'm skimming thru this doc and there's a lot of fun setting here and also like. this would be the next stretch of post ywkon1 content, except it's about genis and raine and co, who find hunter. and also belos' weird cult village.

let me back up.

obviously i cannot keep the owl house lore wholesale but i can keep some of it. belos' curse? fuck it, you know how he can get it in a ywkon-lore-canon-compliant way? blades. man who is just eating blades. or blade shards? shards of blades.

belos. phillip. caleb. Human brothers. caleb driving evelyn who phillip hates for [unknown reasons] because like he’s phillip. His solution to the problem is to kill evelyn, and then so caleb can’t resonate with her again, EAT HER CORE CRYSTAL!!!!!. NORMAL? NORMAL REACTION.

also he kills caleb, probably on accident, but it happened. and he thinks core crystals are yummy now. nomm nomm nomm nummy snackie :) and yeah he's just cloning his brother for errrr normal reasons? it might be he's cloning his brother and then making them eat blade shards so that like, he can study, maybe, how to cure himself from the blade eater mutuation??? which like the answer to that is NOTHING, MY GUY, YOU PASSED THE THRESHOLD LIKE THIRTY BLADES AGO, CAN YOU STOP EATING THOSE FUCKING THINGS,

i contemplated him having a funny little cult town based around, er, eating blades, i guess??? mostly this was in my notes and it's so fucking funny

“blades are vanishing everywhere” is actually a statistical error. Belos’ cult town, which kills and eats hundreds of blades a year, is an outlier and should not have been—

but honestly i don't think he needs the cult town.... what matters more, here, is hunter,

it wouldn’t be hard at all to just keep an iron fist on hunter, like. belos can just be a weird hermit on a mountain top who like – hunter goes out to get things and belos tells him he can’t trust blades at all ever and that’s, like, that’s fine. Or maybe he just . you’re so much better than them hunter you don’t need resonance you just need to eat a fucking core crystal. I’m so proud of you. One day you’ll get to. I promise. When you’re a little older.

so hunter’s uncle (????) hates blades and thinks that it’s better to eat them for power than to resonate with one (EVEN THO YOU CAN’T DO NEARLY AS MUCH AS A BLADE EATER. UNLESS BELOS CAN BECAUSE OF THE, THE MUTATION,) and hunter believes this until he makes a blade friend who loves him very dearly – or maybe he’s had flapjack for a while – and he’s like oh god oh shit I have to keep secrets oh god oh shit is my uncle actually spewing nonses?? Oh god oh shit oh fuck

because yeah, of course, flapjack!!!!

blade who becomes friends with hunter.... idk if flapjack can talk??? I guess there’s no reason to not have an au where flapjack can talk lol. flapjack pretending to be a bird around belos.... just not talking....

like it’s fine. Belos honestly can’t sense other blades anymore and if flapjack acts like a normal bird (not hard) then he can go unnoticed

flapjack - wind - truth - who has been showing hunter little truths to help deprogram him from belos' everything. flapjack who cares very deeply about this boy.

it's post system reset. they might not even be in resonance. but flapjack cares, deeply.

it's post system reset. genis is on a quest to find and awaken core crystals that are in tight places and can't wake up. mithos is trying to wake blades, but some blades can't be woken just because their dormant cores are in a location where they cannot physically form a body. and so mithos sends genis to those cores, to get them out, to wake them up.

mithos pings on a core somewhere in belos' house.

hunter finds them on his uncle's property, figures out they're blades, and goes oh my god, no, my uncle will literally kill you if he sees you

so it turns into hunter reluctantly helping them with a core crystal hunt, which turns into hunter finding out about being a clone, which turns into other things, which ...

well, the rest is for if i actually write the fic, haha!!!
