My boys!! They're finally done! Forgive me while I fall over after working on this steadily for two weeks! Yusuke's B Squad deserves more appreciation and screen time. They are a joy and delight. Just boys being silly! I'd like to think that after the end of the series, they just get together and muck around just like this. That they are happy and enjoying life and freedom.

Okay, bear with me, but since it's Pride month, my brain is living in rainbow land.
Okay, hear me out: you know how demons in Makai live by different rules? I just came across a reel where a nature expert was explaining how homosexuality is everywhere in the animal kingdom, but only in human species do we find homophobia. Check out Carin Bondar on social media for some fascinating information on this.
I would like to posit that demons are super open to homosexuality. They live long-ass lives, and have you seen the Yu Yu Hakusho demons? They're all hot. You can't tell me they're going to live by some arbitrary moral compass about only copulating with a mate they can have offspring with. For hundreds, if not thousands of years? And what incentive do they have to stay monogamous and choose only to be in heterosexual relationships?
If we bring it back to nature: copulation with the purpose of creating offspring is done in the interest of survival. Demons don't have a lot of natural predators, except for other demons. So, sure, I can see lower class demons copulating for the purpose of procreation to ensure they don't go extinct, but for higher class demons? The rules are different. They heal faster, they can take more damage, and it takes a hell of a lot for them to die. Barring losing their lives early in a fight, high ranking demons live long lives and can survive a long time.
Using the example I watched in the a cbcgem reel, dolphins are hypersexual creatures. Sometimes they're a little aggressively sexual, and they form groups that could be construed as polycules, where multiple male dolphins will get together to court and keep a female. And the way they stay in relationship with each other is repeated sexual interaction, multiple times a day to keep them all close. Sex among them creates a strong bond and allows them to coexist without fighting to dominate the relationship with the female.
So why wouldn't the rules for demons be similar? Especially high ranking demons? I think it's safe to assume they'd copulate to build bonds and alliances among themselves. It would probably be the primary strategy by which they'd prevent war. And, when the time came to think about progeny, I can see the decision being made with pragmatism: having children for the sake of developing a legacy, passing down a bloodline and heritage. I can also see it done in the interest of fulfilling a desire to experience the world through the eyes of their offspring and creating a parental bond with their partner, or partners. In a life as long as a demon's, I'd argue that the most important and life-enhancing element would be relationships with other demons. Depending on the type of demon, maybe, but based on the depictions of demons we see in yyh, I think it's a safe wager to make.
Just imagine Jin, Suzuki, Chu, Touya, Shishi, hell, even Risho, hanging out at a pride parade. You know Jin, Suzuki and Chu would be waving rainbow flags, they'd be sporting rainbow face paint, cheering loudly at all the floats going by and catching candy in brightly colored baskets. The others might be a little more subdued, but each and every one of them would just think it was a cool human event to celebrate rainbows. Until Kurama or some other envoy explains to them that, no, as a matter of fact pride is celebrated to celebrate all sexuality alongside heterosexuality. I swear they'd all look at Kurama like he'd grown a second head, mouths hanging open like: You mean humans aren't pansexual? Cripes.
There's a bit of lore here.... I've got fragmented thoughts, but as a love letter to my younger self, I'm fleshing out one of my earliest OCs and her relationship with the YYH cast, particularly Jin Kaze. Jin x OC, I'm sure you all saw this coming, lol
Anyways, wanted to experiment making a manga page to tell a story. It's been a long time since I've done any comic work, so I'm a bit rusty, shaking off the dust and learning new tricks.
Hope this at least gave you a chuckle!
