should have knocked a little louder for @z--o--o
really? really? how could she have been so stupid as to believe this would turn out well? the aching worry in the pit of her stomach should have been a sign that this wasn’t a good idea. the nausea as she prepared the martini and cautiously ascended each step. all of these feelings were signs she should have listened to rather than just chalking them up to nerves.
“Why the hell would I listen to Max?” the glass being placed rather forcefully on the bar. jamie did a double take--took the glass in hand once more an downed the contents. the quick wince that followed was due to her replaying the moment out and not at all to do with the stingy sensation down her throat.
the man in question, max, was a certain scientist’s father---and one who suggested that she proclaim her love. what an asinine idea... clearly he didn’t know how to express love to his son appropriately, yet here she was--taking him up on his suggestion almost instantly.
opening the door and seeing the brunette splayed across mitch was absolutely mortifying. of course they would get back together. hell, at least at one point in time they were actually a thing. that was a lot more than jamie could say for herself and mitch. this back and forth had her head spinning---and now? now, she just hoped neither one of them had heard her at the door.
though that would never be her luck.
