Brendon Urie has finally spoken up yesterday about the allegations and what the next steps for Panic! at The Disco will be. In his Twitch stream, the following actions were taken to ensure that what happened these past few years will not happen again:
1. Zack Cloud Hall has officially been removed from the Panic! team. He has shown that he cannot be trusted around younger fans and other members of the band.
2. Panic! At the Disco’s team will now require new employees or incoming employees to complete a s*xual h*rrassment and a**ault awareness training.
3. There will be a bit more of a hiatus with Panic! so more steps of accountability can be taken to provide a better and safe working environment (this wasn’t explicitly said, but it was implied).
Brendon also addressed the reasons for his long absence from online. He stated that he needed some time to process everything that was going on and find ways to make sure the proper steps will be taken. He has also denied the allegations against him and stated that he would never do anything to make a fan or anyone feel uncomfortable. As for Zack, he stated they were still friends, but assured that Zack’s association with Panic! is over and he will not be anywhere near the team or fans.
My final take on this: I thought that the apology was a bit short and I think more could’ve been addressed, but I definitely appreciate that Brendon decided to finally talk about what happened and what steps are going to be taken (so far). Him continuing his friendship with Zack I am a bit concerned about, but because Brendon knew him since he was only 18-19, it’s very hard for him to let go of someone who has been there when he was a teenager. Trust me, I’ve been in situations like that A LOT.
Many people have tried to call him out for past behavior and complained about him not addressing them, but he has apologized for past behavior multiple times. If you look it up on YouTube, Google, etc, you will find videos of him apologizing about past actions, and you will see that he has not repeated those actions. Whether or not you forgive him, that is completely up to you. What we are NOT going to do, though, is send d*ath threats and h*rr*ss supporters who choose to forgive him or those who choose to not forgive him. Everyone is entitled to like someone and not like someone, but to make someone feel horrible for it is NOT the way to go. As I said, this goes for BOTH sides of the argument.
