YOU'RE NOT YOU WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY
[BEETLEJUICE is very upset about something -- he's sitting in a corner, sobbing loudly and rocking as he hugs himself tightly. A slim MAN wearing glasses, a polo shirt and chinos enters and goes over to him, squatting down beside him and putting an arm around the demon's shoulders.]
MAN
What's wrong, buddy?
BEETLEJUICE
Nobody likes me! (He sniffs loudly and wipes his nose on his sleeve.) They all hate me! They... they l-left me all alooone! (He resumes sobbing, even more loudly than before.) I thought they were my friends!
MAN
Here. (He pulls a giant Zagnut bar from his pocket and hands it to the demon.) Eat this.
BEETLEJUICE
What for?
MAN
You get a little ... sad when you're hungry.
[BEETLEJUICE bites into the candy bar without unwrapping it.]
[Close-up on the MAN]
MAN
Better?
DEWEY (smiling happily, still holding the half-eaten candy bar)
Better. Thanks, Ned.
VOICEOVER
Zagnuts. Because you're not you when you're hungry.
