It’s that time of year again
Zagr week 2024 !
It will be August 11-17
I am VERY late for ZAGR week!!! I swear i never hear about these things until way after they start...... spandy week might have been a bust thanks to my blog getting temporarily nuked but i can still throw some interesting stuff into my equally late Yeehawgust post. For now enjoy some ZAGR :)
Day 1: Yummy
"They overcharged us for the fries. Pretty sure they didn't add extra pickles, either."
"Hello, pathetic human fast food establishment??? I WANNA REFUND!"
ZAGR WEEK. DAY TWO: Wound.
TW for blood and mild graphic imagery.
Shit.
Shit, shit.
Gaz leaned against the wall in the alley, her head back against the rough surface. Her right arm held her up, the mechanical limb clawing against the bricks and scraping off red dust as her left hand was pressed against her side.
Her breathing was shaky as she removed her hand to see red all over her palm and fingers, a burning pain drilling into her stab wound.
“Fuck.”
She applied pressure on the wound once more and pressed on her ear piece.
“Zim? It's me.”
She winced and leaned against the wall more, breathig deeply and loudly exhaling.
“Yeah, I got stabbed…..in my hip. Or just above my hip. Right side….no, just the one….the guy who stabbed me?”
Gaz glanced over at the down and bloody culprit, his nose frothing blood as he groaned in pain. Gaz smirked for a second and looked down at her metal and bloody knuckles before another spike of pain licked her wound.
“D-Down…I'll make my way to you….okay…bye.”
Gaz hung up and pushed herself off the wall and began to slowly make her way out of the alley way,
Her hair clung to her forehead from sweat, her eyes blurry from the searing pain. Fucking bastard. If she wasn't in so much pain, she would make sure he was dead or close to dying. After trying to mug her and kill her, a broken nose and two missing teeth was too good for him.
Not only was she stabbed, but the knife he had was a bread knife, so instead of slicing her, the wound was a little shredded.
The lights of street lamps and buildings irritated her eyes as she made her way down, each colour vertical from her squinted vision. An irritation would bite at her wound whenever she took a step with her right leg, so she had to steel herself each time she bent her knee.
Her left had felt wet and warm against her side, and Gaz started to worry she was losing blood faster she thought. Just as Gaz tried to pick up the pace, she suddenly tripped and stumbled, a gasp escaping her lips before she caught herself on a bin.
“Son of a….”
Gaz braced herself before groaning loudly, agony washing over her as the sudden movement did naught but agitate her cut. She panted heavily like a dog after sprinting a whole mile, waiting for the pain to subside.
She involuntarily wiped sweat and hair from her face, smearing her face with her own blood. Fucking-why did she use her left hand?
“Ugh.”
Gaz spat red spit from her tongue before she stood up and continued to trudge down the street.
The occasional onlooker would stop to watch, and some decent enough people went up to her and asked if she was alright and tried to help. She had to tell them she was fine. She wasn't, but Zim was the best help she could ask for now. Dib and Tak were on holiday on Meekrob for their wedding anniversary, so her resourceful brother and doctor sister-in-law were not available. Not to say her own partner wasn't helpful.
After minutes, but what felt like hours, of seething and gritting her teeth, Gaz eventually made it to her house. The door opened just as she reached it, Zim standing at the doorway and ushered her in.
“What happened, Gaz?” He asked in concern, his eyes widening to see blood on her face and seeping from her jacket.
Gaz winced again and flopped down on the coach, sighing heavily before kicking off her boots.
“Some creep.” Gaz said between her heavy breathing, raising her bloody metal fist “Showed him.”
Zim frowned before sitting down beside her, pulling out a first aid kit.
“Do you need help removing your clothes?” He asked, taking some equipment out.
Gaz smirked and chuckled “Now? Don't think I'm up for it, hun.”
Zim looked at her sternly, “Gaz.”
Gaz's smirk grew and she nodded “Yeah, I need help.”
Zim sighed and helped Gaz remove her jacket and shirt, slowly and gently pulling them off before he examined her wound. He frowned, his eyes showing concern and anger.
“Are they still alive?”
“Hm?”
“The one who did this.” Zim asked.
Gaz chuffed, still breathing heavily to calm and steady herself “Yeah. Not by my own choice.”
Zim grumbled and took out some septic wipes and began cleaning the area. Gaz fought off her flinch as Zim lightly tapped the wound. After that, he took out some alien-irken device thing, she kept forgetting the name of, and carefully held it on the wound before small nanobots crawled over her skin and began mending it.
Gaz sighed in relief as the bleeding stopped and her cut began to close. The pain was still there, but at least the real danger was out of the way.
Zim stood up and reached for a wet towel and cleaned her bloody face. She smiled at being tended to by Zim, feeling like royalty in his hands. Speaking of which, she glanced down to see him holding her left hand and tried to wipe off all the blood.
He seemed focused on something, and Gaz tilted her head to see him glaring at her stained wedding ring.
“Hey, it'll wash off. Don't worry.” She assured.
Zim's displeased expression had not faltered and he cursed. “It better.”
Gaz smiled gently and held onto his hand before kissing his knuckles.
Zim's face finally softened and he sighed quietly, reaching into the aid kit and pulled out a green cold gel. He applied some to his fingers and rubbed it over Gaz's mended wound.
A shiver ran up her spine at the cold gel.
“H-hey, now!” Gaz squirmed.
“It's for the pain, Gaz-love.” Zim responded before putting the gel away.
“I know, but you could warn me before you put it on.” Gaz responded.
Her partner rolled his eyes before sitting down next to Gaz on the couch. The pain began to reside and Gaz felt herself relax, sinking into the furniture.
She opened her eyes and looked over herself, her skin clammy and body drained. At least her vision was clear again.
Gaz fanned herself with her hand “Eugh. I need a shower.”
Zim turned to her, a hint of concern on his face “Very well, but don't move yet. Your wound is still being repaired.”
Gaz nodded and looked up at the ceiling, waiting to be allowed to stand up and move until she caught Zim shifting in his seat out of the corner of her eye. He was anxious and fidgety, like a dog wanting to be let out into the garden.
She knew him long enough to know why he was acting this way, and even though she was the stab victim, a pang of guilt hit her in the gut, almost as severe as the stab wound. It wasn't her fault this happened, but she felt bad for worrying him nonetheless.
After a minute or so, Gaz sat forward. “Can I get up now?”
Zim nodded.
“Good.” She said before standing from the couch, but before she would fully straighten her legs, her eyes widened when she was pulled into a tight hug.
Zim had his arm wrapped around her, clinging onto her desperately like he was terrified to let go. Gaz's face softened and she smiled before hugging him back.
“It's okay. I'm okay.” She spoke softly to him, her husband embracing her tightly still, shuddering and shaking like a wet cat.
Gaz rubbed his back before lifting his chin up to face her and kissed him tenderly, making a small noise of surprise when Zim leaned into the kiss more than she was expecting.
She eventually pulled away, her cheeks a little flushed. She smiled warmly and held his face in her hands, his eyes full of plead.
“I know what you're thinking. I'll be more careful next time I go out.” She said softly.
Zim made a small noise of concern, the affection in his touch and kiss as endearing as ever to her. She knew Zim was very protective of her and he was probably sweating bullets when he heard what happened.
She really should remember to bring a weapon with her whenever she leaves. Her metal arm will not be enough, it seems.
“Please stay home for a bit.” Zim spoke quietly, “I know you can handle yourself, but-”
Gaz cut him off when she kissed him again before caressing his cheeks assuringly “I know you're worried. I understand fully. But this was just a freak accident, okay. But if you really want me to stay home for a while, I will.”
Zim held onto her wrists and sighed, his fingers rubbing her forearms. His left hand then trailed up her mechanical right arm before it rested on her cheek. Zim nodded. “Okay.”
Gaz smiled gave him a quick peck on the nose, flustering him as he shrinked into his collar. Gaz laughed lightly that she still had that affect on him.
“Come on. You can join me in the shower if you want.”
Zim's attention peaked and he smiled “I can?”
Gaz nodded and smiled amusingly “You're always so excited for that. Not the first time we did it.”
Zim stood taller and held his chin up “But the experience with you is always exemplary. No matter how many times, it is always the most exciting event.”
Gaz rolled her eyes before she turned to make her way upstairs “Yeah, yeah, I'm hot, I know.”
She glanced over her shoulder to see Zim follow her quickly, feeling endeared how eager he was to be with her. Just like ever, Gaz was grateful that they loved each other and they both showed it in any way they could.
Including treating their wounds.
