I'm not trying to start anything, I actually very excited that she plays Athena. I'm just not sure I understand it. I've seen some people say that and my question is how exactly will it benefit her career? The same people were saying that she's the most sought after actress of her generation and directors and studios are knocking on her door. That she's A list actress and a movie star. What having a small role in Nolan's movie can do to her career? Did having a small role on Oppenheimer changed Flo's career? Or Rami Malek's? The only person who I can see truly benefiting from the Odyssey is Tom

I've been ignoring these types of asks because to me personally the whole discussion is pretty pointless. I'll answer this one with my perspective and then I'm considering the topic closed.

She is a movie star and an A-lister, that's not even up for debate. Matt Belloni surveyed studio execs and she was atop of every list of actors they wanted in their movies. I don't understand what is not clicking for some fans. She has said hundreds of times that she is interested in working with directors and actors she admires. She is in a big movie made by one of her favorite directors. That's a good enough reason for her.

And you didn't ask for this but let me vent about fans with 'career concerns'. One of the most important principles to me is personal agency. People make decisions about their own lives, pursue the opportunities they want and define success on their own terms. I don't know what kinds of lives some of you are living but I don't let anyone in my life tell me what I should do with mine, nevermind strangers.

I love Zendaya and following her all these years has been great fun to me, I joke around and look forward to whatever she will pit out in the future. But the idea that I should worry about a woman who is a multimillionaire, critically acclaimed, widely loved and one of the most successful actresses of her generation is honestly preposterous to me.

I am choosing not to be mean, so to anyone for whom the ask above is a concern, step back and focus on your own life instead of seeking validation through hers.
