The Guardians Return
“Take care of her...”
Those were the final words I spoke to Noel before I sent him away with the one being I swore to protect till my dying breath. I had felt confidence at the time of my decision... letting Yeul leave my side to live an actual life, but still to this day, I found my mind consumed by a train of thought. “Is she safe?.... Is she happy?... Will I see them again?...” Opening my eyes, I broke free from my seemingly hypnotic state of mind and looked to my surroundings. Darkness.... blackened fog... the remains of whatever had been the Era of Crystal.
Walking the blackened void, I felt an unusual tension within the air. A force had made the air thick, almost as if trying to break through an unseen barrier. Looking around, my muscles tightened as the quiet ambience quickly broke into a trembling quake. As I attempted to begin to run, within what seemed like mere seconds, there was white, and my consciousness faded.
From after what seemed like a few seconds, I felt a faint, but familiar sensation.... The cold brush of a Fall mornings breeze... Slowly coming to my senses, my eyes squinted, as they were greeted with a gentle light. “Impossible.....” Quickly sitting up, a surge of awe struck me like lightning. I was.... In the New World. Looking at the plains of grass surrounding me.. I was unsure if I was stuck in a dream, or pulled into a miracle. But nonetheless, for the first time in what seemed like an eternity, I smiled.
