Lily/Zari Roomates AU

My crackship? Thank youuuuu! 

(I have a lot of feelings about these two now, I’ve made a mistake)

1. Some Fate magic and timey wimey stuff allow Zari 1.0 to come back into existence, but it also puts an end to her time travel days. If she doesn’t want to kill her brother, she needs to pick a point and stay there. So she goes with present day Central City.

2. Apartment hunting is the worst thing ever and it’s grating on Zari’s nerves. She reaches out to Jax for help, and he puts her in touch with Lily. The two are reintroduced by him in Jitters as they look at their situations. Lily’s boyfriend and baby daddy flaked off so she’s raising Ronnie alone and has a spare bedroom. Zari’s interviewing for an IT position at a couple places and needs a place. She’s more than happy to help pay rent and the two agree to move in together.

3. Zari is not a baby person, but Ronnie is the most adorable toddler to ever exist in her opinion. He takes a shine to her instantly, following her around and making pictures for her. Zari definitely pins up the pictures at her new desk at work and will take him to the park when Lily needs to catch up on work or needs a break. He’s the best kid ever and tells Lily that often. Lily says she doesn’t blame him- Zari is really cool.

4. Lily and Zari pick up on each other really quickly. Lily likes to cook, Zari likes to bake. While Zari despises laundry, Lily is awful at any kind of repair work, so they switch off or help the other out. They work together as such a good team and Zari feels like she’s found a place after losing one with the Legends. She’s also starting to have some feelings whenever she and Lily sit down to make fun of a cheesy rom com, or when they get ready for work in the morning and figure out Ronnie’s schedule, or that one time when Lily had a breakdown in the bathroom about being a good mother to Ronnie and Zari wanted to kiss her forehead but instead told her that she’s amazing and brilliant and there for Ronnie.

So you know, a completely normal way to feel about your roommate.

5. Ronnie ends up starting soccer and Zari and Lily go to every game and cheer him on. One day, they forget a second chair and Zari tells Lily she can just sit with her. Lily ends up on her lap and Zari doesn’t want to move ever again, especially when Lily rests her head against Zari’s shoulder. After the game, they’re about to head out when Ronnie realizes he’s forgotten his water bottle. Zari doubles back to go and get it, which the coach has. Zari thanks her and is about to head off when the coach says “You and your wife have a really great kid.”

It takes about five seconds for Zari to process this before she thanks her instead of correcting her and runs back to Lily and Ronnie.

(During this time, Lily is silently having a crisis over how she’s falling in love with Zari and may be texting Jax that she spent most of the game on Zari’s lap and it was really nice and hopefully Zari comes back instead of running away)
