"Thanks for looking after them."

Jax turned to Lily. It was still so surreal that she was back after all this time. He was even more surprised that she had managed to give her parents the slip. Then again, there were plenty of people at the 'Welcome Home, Zari and Lily' party. The Tarazis, the Steins, Jax and his mom, Tina, Lisa and Ivy, the Rogues, and even Sam and Rosa had shown up to greet the returned women.

"It was more your mom that I spent time watching out for," Jax told her. "Your dad was in the Quantum Realm. But after everything happened, Mom and I would go over and make sure she was eating and showering and all that."

"How bad did things get?"

Jax exhaled and looked over to where Clarissa and Martin were chatting with Tina (Mina hadn't shown up- something about a freelance job in Corto Maltese). "There were rough days. She never went to the hospital if that's what you're asking."

"That's...good," Lily nodded.

"How are you doing though?" Jax asked. "You and Zari were the ones abducted and bouncing around space for your childhood and adulthood."

Lily looked over at Zari after he said this. Jax saw the other woman standing with Lisa and Behrad and give her a thumbs up. Lily returned the gesture.

"I'm adjusting to being back. Zari and I weren't alone. We had each other, and the Guardians became our family. But I was always haunted by how I left things here. How the last thing I said to my mother was that I hated her."

"She felt guilty about how she broke the news. She wished she'd gone after you. It's haunted her too. I think you coming home has repaired that wound a little."

"Goes both ways then," Lily smiled. "I just...I don't know where I'm going to go next. I've been a Ravager and then a Guardian. I don't know what's next."

Jax set his hand on her shoulder. "Whatever happens, you've got a family behind you to support you."
