hi hi finally beginning to work on the inbox. let’s get into this.
falz! a very fun guy. if i recall correctly, falz was an artist (fourth family) in soilaila, and one of the only two authors of the arcanic scriptures who weren’t arcanic born. that doesn’t happen often or easily because the arcanic family is very gatekeep-y and refuse to let just anyone enter their circles but falz’s myth of yo-aina was so incredibly well written, in terms of characterizing the gods and the idea of inseparable grief, and he was so illustrious with his words, that the arcanic priests added his poetry when compiling the final draft of the scriptures.
b) what prompted him to write yo-aina.
the myth of yo-aina comes from the ballad of ainare, a magician of spells and fantasy (artist) who was infatuated with yozar after he spent some time with her during sunset. and seeing him leave during the golden hour filled her with such dread and loss that the next time he came around, she shackled him with time-breaking fetters, essentially forcing the sun to never set and making him stay with her for eternity. the original arcanic ballad (orally passed down) never explained how yozar ended up breaking free, but everyone assumed the war commander of the gods used violence to break out of his shackles. instead, falz describes the softer side of yozar, the kinder side that makes him the god of life, as he comforts ainare and asks her earnestly to let him go, because the world needed the sun to set and she needs to let go of this constructed fantasy she had built. the arrival of the golden hour represents the loss of reminiscence and its comfort, but an acceptance towards an undesired reality.
the specific motivations or inspiration behind why he chose to characterize the god in a softer light was never explained within his footnotes or orations. however, arcanic priests believe he did it as a means to remind people that yozar was the man to carry the burden of humanity’s corpses on his back, shouldering them with honour and respect instead of using the sac or wagon given to him by his mother. there was a sense of honour to yozar. he would not have treated a grieving woman so unkindly, however deserved.
c) funding and his organization?
he writing wasn’t funded and he was a part of no organization. he was just a man with a beautiful voice and an incredible ability to use words as art. he shared it during the arcanic orations during a festival of magic and it became transcribed into history.
d) favourite thing he wrote?
as of right now, the only myth of falz i have canonically written is the myth of yo-aina. so i guess its that by default. but im sure this man probably wrote a good 10-12 poems that i just haven’t conspired yet.
