anyway, it seems that i love drawing gay men being in love w each other and sleeping in each others arms, judging by the 1000 files named various spellings of "sleep" and "nap" in my zhongchi art folder AND the current piece im doodling...........

but man theres just smth about a tame, sleeping childe cuddled up to/spooned by zhongli and his face is so soft and relaxed and zhongli is so smitten and touched by the trust this fierce warrior is having in him to be this vulnerable in his arms that he counts his freckles and scars and kisses little declarations of love into his skin as they are both in their own little bubble where theres no archons, no fatui, nothing; just the two of them, childe sleeping and zhongli watching, and the warmth of their bed and bodies and the liyue sun slowly peeking through the window--

its 1am and im having zc thoughts as usual so apologies for rambling but audhdjch im just thinking about

zhongli intertwining his fingers with childes while hes still asleep, taking his relaxed, softened face in and how completely soundless and still he sleeps as if hes actually dead; leaning forward to kiss each of his scarred knuckles until he feels his fingers twitch slightly in his and letting out a quiet chuckle before he moves to his face, pressing soft kisses against his forehead, eyelids, cheekbones until he reaches his mouth and kisses him gently-- and then his lips curve up in a soft smile when he feels childes lips move against his to return the kiss and when he opens his eyes hes greeted with childe staring at him, sleep still evident in his pretty blue eyes - he got comfortable and used enough around zhongli that he can let himself go and have a proper rest without waking up several times and all alert - and zhongli mumbles in this low gentle voice of his "apologies, my love, i did not mean to wake you" and childe, all sleepy and slurred, "yknow, you say that every time, i know youre not sorry at all" and they both chuckle silently before zhongli leans in once more and they kiss again and again

zhongli loves that childe trusts him enough to let down his guard and sleep in his presence, like proper deep sleep (though the nightmares are still there but zhongli is there with him to ease him back to sleep) as much as he loves waking childe up with tender kisses and touches and seeing his eyes, his face all unguarded and softened from sleep in the moments of waking up before he smiles at him so sweetly as if hes glad to see him again, to see hes still there the next morning

idk im just so soft for them and thinking about tender, trusting moments like this idk man aaa

speaking of sleep and softness, masseuse zhongli who accidentally puts childe to sleep past closing hours in his clinic.

poor childe is a tired 9 to 5 worker trying to make a better living for his family and he got a nice bonus that month, so he decided to treat himself to some nice relaxation. he was assigned to the prettiest man he had ever seen, so pretty that it took a while for him to relax. and zhongli was so patient that he didn't mind. poor zhongli wasn't sure what to do when the cute ginger man fell asleep and wouldn't wake up. he did have rings under his eyes, so he must have been very tired.

one hour past closing time, childe woke up to the smell of tea. he apologized profusely to the beautiful masseuse, too embarrassed to return to the clinic.

a few days later, the smell of tea wouldn't leave childe's memory. luckily there was a grocery store near his apartment and tea was so common in liyue that even high-quality ones were affordable.

he wasn't sure what to pick because the names weren't familiar to him, so he reached out to the first that seemed appealing...only to brush another hand. he looked to the side and saw the masseuse from the very parlor he swore he wouldn't return to. one would think the sudden encounter would there, but it turned out that zhongli was quite the speaker.

this habit wouldn't change years later when they celebrated their third anniversary.
