“i’m coming in!! you better be decent!” jess yelled out immediately before pushing the door open to zen’s room, clinging onto a bag full of candy and books as she held them up to her face, potentially blocking anything she didn’t want to see. it was zen after all, and if she wanted to remain clueless and innocent as can be around anyone? it was the boy she grew up around and adored. a friendship built around a mutual love for reading and writing and someone jessica knew she could absolutely trust with her entire being. swapping books with one another had almost became a tradition for the pair, and something she looked forward to every month. there wasn’t much of jessica’s life that felt normal, that felt like how it used to be --- but zen was a constant and for that? she’d always be grateful. “i’ve got four books for you for this month.. so you better be ready for all this!!” she gave a playful scrunch on her nose to the boy, a bright smile to accompany it. "but firstly.. i missed you. how're things?"
