here is the third chapter to the series by @jackaverysboo and i! i hope you guys enjoy it:)))
summary: what starts off as a quick run-in at the grocery store soon blossoms into a friendship between two teens who seem to argue over everything, including skittles
I slipped my feet into the rented skates and started my walk over to the crowded rink, nearly falling over, but catching my balance as I got on the ice. I looked around, searching for a few familiar faces.
A smile peered on my face as I looked over and saw Grace skating with a kid who looked to be a little bit younger, recognizably her brother she had mentioned yesterday. She had a wide smile on her face as she made conversation with one of the tall players that I could only assume was on the Toronto Maple Leafs. The look of happiness that rested on her only made a smile appear on my face.
Rather than stirring up trouble right away, I skated towards Auston, who had gotten me into this little private event. He saw me coming and skated over, giving me a bro-hug and laughing at how I nearly fell.
“Hey, dude, thanks for getting me in here,” I looked up at the quite tall guy that I’d grown up with.
Auston replied, “No problem. How’d you even know about this practice?”
“You think I don’t keep up with your events?” I played.
He shot me a look and I laughed as he replied, “Zach, what are you really doing here?”
I licked my lips, nodding my head towards the pretty girl who was a couple yards away, “You see that girl over there? Her name’s Grace and I met her at the Grocery Store. She came in and was talking to her friend about how she won this contest with her younger brother to come skate with you guys. I think she’s really cute and I figured if you could get me in, why not take a shot at seeing her pretty face again.”
“Ask her out,” Auston replied easily as if it weren’t some big deal.
“I met her yesterday, barely, and she already seems to hate me. What makes you think that’s a good idea?”
Auston blew my comment off, “So get to know her today and ask her out. She obviously likes hockey; I can get the two of you tickets for tomorrow’s game versus Dallas.”
“Really?” I question, looking at him as he offered a few more tickets so quickly.
“Yeah, ‘course,” He smiled, “Just don’t tell her that you’re taking her to a hockey game. You want to see if she’ll actually go on a date with you, not that she likes hockey. She may just go with you for the game, so make it a surprise. See if she actually likes you.”
“I guess, but what if she says no? Then it’ll be public humiliation if I ever see her face again, which I probably will seeing that her crazy friend has a crush on Jonah, and vice versa.” I said, letting out a sigh.
“Honestly dude, some advice man to man, or man to kid since you look like you're 12,” Auston began as I rolled my eyes, “Take a leap of faith. If she’s as great as you think she is, then go for it. What’s the worst that can happen anyways?”
“Hmm… how about the fact that she might reject me? I ‘dunno Auston, I really don't think this is a good idea... ”
“Fine, but if you don’t ask her out now, when are you gonna see her again?” He brings up a pretty decent point, “You’re going on tour and after today, you’re gonna run out of places to see her without looking like a complete stalker. Oh, and if you're planning on asking her out, try sooner than later ‘cos that guy there seems like he's going to pull a move soon.” Auston gestured towards a group of boys, who looked to be a few years older than me, the tallest one letting his eyes rake over Grace’s body.
My face turned red as I glanced towards Grace and then the guys, then finally Auston, “I hate that you’re right.”
He shrugged, “I’m just telling you, man. Don’t freak yourself out, just get to know her and then ask her out. If she’s half the person you’re describing, you’ve got nothing to worry about. Just try it out and if she says no, there are literally millions of girls after you.”
“Alright,” I blew out air nervously, “I’m gonna do it. And if she laughs in my face and rejects me, I’ll just have my heart crushed and I’ll come after you.”
“I’m 6’3 and could take you easily,” Auston states and I roll my eyes, glancing at Grace one final time.
“Whatever dude,” I take in a breath, “I’m gonna go over. I’ll see you after, ‘kay?”
“I’m gonna go back to practicing, even if she does reject you, I’ve got a game to play in tomorrow.”
I roll my eyes one final time and then start to skate over to Grace and her brother, a smirk planted on my face as I reach her.
“Sunshine! As nice as it is to see you, stalking can also be seen as harassment,” The words roll of my tongue ever so smoothly, as if there was not a single thing to be nervous about.
Her head snapped towards me, surprise evident on her face. “Funny how it’s coming from you! You’d know a thing or two about stalking since you’re supposed to be at the party, aren't you?”
Doing my best not to lose my cool, I reply, “I guess chilling with the Toronto Maple Leafs seemed like a little bit more fun than a dumb party.”
She scoffed, “And you can just walk in here with ease? This is supposed to be a closed practice with contest winners and the Leafs players. By the looks of our meeting yesterday, it doesn’t seem like you’d won this contest.”
“I have connections,” I winked and looked at her brother who was watching our interaction go down.
Realization washed over his face as he hit her arm and looked back at me, “Hey, you’re the kid that’s on Alex’s sister’s wall!” He then turned to his sister, “The one she always says she’s going to marry-- you know who I’m talking about!”
My body tensed as he easily recognized who I was. Blood rushed to my already rosy cheeks as I gulped, staring at the two intently.
Grace looked at her little brother, “No, I’m pretty sure that’s that annoying kid, Jacob Sartorius! Besides, you’re not supposed to be snooping in her room Shawn!” ‘Her brother, now known to me as Shawn, quickly skated off, hoping to be left off the leash and not get into trouble.
Grace turned towards me and took one good look at me. I sent her a sheepish smile, thankful for her comments, before she began to go off about it, giggling like a schoolgirl, “Actually, now that I think about it… you look a lot like that musical.ly kid”
I looked at her, faking hurt while pointing towards my heart, “That hurt sunshine, right over here!”
Grace’s eyes lit up every time a laugh escaped her lips and tonight, I’ve practically made it my mission to make her laugh as often as possible. She giggled as I sent her a smile, the two of us skating side-by-side. I decided it was now or never, as I worked up the courage to ask her out on a date. “Tonight was fun… How about instead of the whole stalking charade, we hang out tomorrow?”
“You mean like the day after today?” She seemed to be in shock.
“Yep, that’s the day I’m talking about.”I replied, hoping that I was wrong in thinking she’d reject me.
“You mean like, Monday?” She looked slightly concerned with the date I’d chosen, and all I could seem to think about is what would I do if she couldn’t do tomorrow? What would I do then?
“Tomorrow, Monday, and the first day of the week, sunshine!” I replied, the thought of her replying with no concerning me deeply as I silently prayed she wouldn’t.
“But Toronto is playing! I never miss any of their games,” She replied, her eyebrows scrunched deep in thought.
“I can assure you it’s much better than watching hockey from your t.v screen,” I exclaimed, taking a quick glance at Auston who had given me a thumbs up from across the arena.
“Say if I were to agree, who else would join us because I’m not too great with new faces,” She questioned, visibly unsure of her own answer.
“No new faces, sunshine, just you and me!” I answered, realizing her answer stood more towards a YES than a no.
“What if you kill me? Remember the first rule you learnt as a kid, Stranger Danger!” She wondered, recalling her childhood years.
“If I really wanted to kill you, I would have a while ago. Besides, now we know each other, so I doubt I count as a stranger,” I responded, a chuckle leaving my lips as I did so.
“You need to have money to do things with people, and I’m a 16 year old broke girl,” She told me with a slight frown.
I sent a friendly smile her way, “No money necessary. It’s a date, I’ll cover all expenses.”
“A date?” Her eyebrows rose, “I thought we were just hanging out?”
“That’s kind of the point of a date, ya know?” I responded with a sly look.
Grace thought for a second, and then began to whine, “But Zachhhhhhhh.”
Playfully, I replied, “But Graceeeeeee.”
It took another few seconds for her to come to a conclusion, but when she did, a smile broke out on my face, “Okay… Fine.”

could anyone write a zach imagine about the reader being a club volleyball player, but with zach’s touring schedule he could never make it to her games, and it’s her last game and she doesn’t see him there until he surprises her at the end?
summary: for the final game of the season, y/n’s boyfriend has a surprise for her.
warning(s): nope
word count: 860
author’s note: heyo i don’t know a lot about volleyball i’m really sorry
The crowd was loud as I stared up at my coach. My team crowded around her as she read the starting line up and as she did, a smile appeared on my face, recognizing that for the final game of the season I’d be starting with my best friends beside me.
She quickly explained to us a mini-bio about the competition and we listened, trying to find the best way to destroy the team we’d be playing today. Suddenly, I heard the referee blow her whistle and the final game of the season was about to commence.
The six of us walked out onto the court with loud claps from our teammates on the bench. I took my position as setter and while the ref checked to make sure all was set up legally, I looked up at the crowd.
My mom waved and I sent her a small smile, but sorrow filled me. As happy as I am to see the support of all the parents, today was the last game of the season and it hit me about how long it’s been since I’ve seen my boyfriend. I understand that he’s busy now that he’s on tour and I know that he wouldn’t have been able to make it to this game even with his best efforts, but deep down inside of me I’d hoped for a miracle and now that the final day is here, it kinda sucks that he won’t be here.
The whistle blew and the other team started with the ball, my attention turning towards the game and only the game.
I could hear my teammates screaming and cheering as I took the ball in my hand. In that second, it felt as if all time had stopped as I took in a deep breath. The serve that I make could potentially win the final point that my team needs to win the game. It’s currently 24-22 in the final match, both of our teams splitting the first two rounds.
I lifted my arm up and swung at the ball. The other team responded, hitting the ball directly back towards me. Having faced this several times today, calmly, I set the ball to the middle. Amanda jumped up, her height coming in handy as she spiked the ball down on the court. My whole team jumped up from the bench, rushing onto the court and attacking her as we had just won the game 26-22.
I began to cheer, absolutely ecstatic that we had won our last game of the season. With all the cheer, it’s hard to tell what’s going on as our parents all came down onto the court, excited both for our win and for our season to be over, since it meant no more long drives.
Beside me, I felt my closest friend, Dana tap my shoulder and turn me around. I was shocked, looking at her as if she was crazy, but she pointed ahead of me and as I turned to look, I couldn’t help but cover my face in shock.
About ten feet away from me, Zach stood with a wide smile and beautiful flowers, laughing at how funny I looked in shock. He began to walk towards me and I pushed through the large crowd of people before latching my body onto my boyfriend’s.
he lifted me off the ground and i wrapped my legs around his torso, resting my head on his shoulder, taking in the beautiful scent that I’d missed so dearly. he laughed, his voice ringing in my ear, “Great game, love.”
I clung to him for another second, before moving my head from his shoulder and staring at him with a wide smile. Our lips collided as we shared a passionate kiss that we’d gone far too long without.
Zach set me down and I couldn’t help but blush as he gave me the gorgeous flowers, “pretty flowers for a pretty girl.”
“what are you doing here?” i exclaim, a wide smile planting on my face. It seemed as if the smile would never go away, at this point.
“It’s the final game of the season and I had yet to see you play,” He tells me, a sweet look on his face, “I couldn’t just not see you.”
“You are the absolute best boyfriend,” i kiss his lips again, “i thought you guys were on tour! how are you here?”
“today was an off-day,” he tells me, “i flew in this morning, and the boys will fly to New York tomorrow, but I’ll stay here for a day, and then you and i, my love, are going to New York for the show the next day.”
I stared at him with a blank look, completely shocked by what he just said, “wait... i’m gonna get to go to another show?”
“only if you want!” Zach answers.
“of course i want!!!” i jump up in excitement, “I can’t believe you’re taking me to New York. You really are the best boyfriend.”
“i’m glad you’re excited,” he smiles, “i love you.”
“i love you too, Zachy,” i grin. how’d i get so lucky?
