Year of the OTP: Camping & Holiday Traditions (Dragon Age: Veilguard Emmrich/Rook)
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Dropped the ball last month so it's a two-for-one this month! I had fun doing this with my new OTP and might do something like this in the future!

Camping:
“What do you think about going camping for a few days?” Bellara bounce-sat on the chair across from her and smiled at the older woman. “It’s been awhile since we last went.”
Zea tipped her head while looking at her friend, wondering what was up. They were currently the only ones staying in the Lighthouse; Bellara still self-conscious about her Blight scars while Zea didn’t want to move in with Emmrich quiet yet but not able to go back to Rivain either. Even with the Eluvean’s it was a strange kind of limbo, it felt like everyone else was needed with their respective groups but at the same time the Lords and Veil Jumpers hadn’t needed them. So the duo had rattled around the nearly empty Lighthouse until Zea suggested they take a trip to some ruins in Ferelden, get out and see the stars that Harding had when she lived there. After that they made an effort to take some kind of trip every month.
“Sure. Didn’t you want to study some ruins in Arlathan? We could go there for however long you need to.” Zea said, watching Bellara break into a smile and nod her head.
“Great! I’ll tell Emm-I’ll go start packing. We can leave tomorrow morning.”
Zea raised an eyebrow at what had been about to say, but before she could ask the other woman scurried out of the room.

Holiday Traditions:
In the past Emmrich had little time for Wintersend. It was the end of the semester so he had more than enough final papers to grade, graduate students to advise, and talking down students who were suddenly concerned about their grades. Besides, since it was just him there wasn’t much to celebrate. He did attend the faculty mixer to be sociable, and once he had Manfred he did attempt a few of the more popular Nevarran traditions; midnight Chantry services, garland around the house, a small get together where he invited some of his fellow Watchers (including Vorgoth). But for the most part he was satisfied to either take his work to his apartments or hole up in his office at the university.
But then Rook turned his world upside down and he wanted nothing more than to show her all that Nevarra City had to offer during the holiday festivities.
“Do you think this is tall enough to fit in the sitting room?” Emmrich asked as he looked up at the evergreen in front of him. The air was thick with the smell of pine and sap, the snowy ground littered with needles from the trees as they were jostled from their stands.
“...I guess?” came the muffled reply and Emmrich turned to Rook, who was bundled up so much that her eyes and nose were the only discernible features on her face. Zea looked at the tree for a moment before she hooked the scarf down underneath her chin so Emmrich could hear her clearly. “I mean…it should fit? We can cut the base down if it doesn’t right?”

So happy I acquired a PS5 in December and another copy of Veilguard so I can have nicer screenshots of Rook x Harding. A crumb of serotonin in these troubling times.
Some of my Threads DA fam has been posting here on Tumblr too, soooo. Hi 🧡
