Kaidan pulled out a datapad and held it out for her to take, “Just…read this.”

“Kaid-”

“Trust me and just read it.”

Rose gave Kaidan a mildly concerned look while taking the pad. Clicking it on, she entered her authorization and a report popped up on the screen. Silence filled the space as she read, a frown appearing as she scrolled down to the bottom of the page.

“Shit.” Rose breathed after reaching the end of the page. Glancing up at Kaidan she then said, “Close the door.”

Kaidan nodded and stood, moving to close the door so they could talk in private.

“How did you find all this?” Rose asked once Kaidan sat back down and she all but threw the pad on her desk.

Kaidan shifted in the chair, the wood creaking as he moved, “I thought it was weird that both our projects, things that were supposedly a top priority for the Alliance, were starting to derail. So when I got to the project site I asked around, seeing what was going wrong and when it all started. I don’t have a complete picture yet…but what I’ve found out is all there.”

the best thing about rulette 2 is that i do think it adds substantial mechanical improvements to the game design of the first iteration — paul and sam as ‘players’ intended to follow and be called out on rules, interesting new rules/prompts/modifiers, the golden rule concept, etc. — but all of that slowly but surely becomes overshadowed by josh ruben landing by chance on all of the specific rules that transform him into a baby-themed tongue-heavy gyrating monster
