My Zed Headcanons

AKA I love making disney things darkkkk. I hope you enjoy. I really loved thinking deeply about him as a character and just the entire insanity of the actual premise of this franchise tbh.

Zed and Zoey lost their mother to open fire at a Zombie Raid/Patrol during a protest. Zed was 10 and Zoey was 2. This is why hes so nervous about Eliza wanting to fight injustice and he was trying his best in the second movie to tone down what makes him different.

He actually really liked being a human in the first movie but he never would admit it after Addison scolded him for it being wrong. Parts of him still wishes he could see that version in the mirror. Its a rare thought for him but it presents as slight dysmorphia issues.

The pressure to perform after integrating with normals and other races never seems to fade and it bothers him a lot more than an outward appearance. Having to win games to get rights, having to be school president to date the girl of his dreams, having to get into college to pave the way for his entire race. Its a lot.

Hes been wrongly arrested/harassed more than most in his town simply due to protecting everyone around him from speaking too loudly or crossing lines.

After he was arrested during the homecoming game there were talks about removing his Zband and sending him into exile across the outer wall (where the uncontrolled stay) due to the danger he posed to the entire student body. When Bucky confessed to being the cause of the “outbreak” they still had to fight to allow Zed to come back to school/ for the union in general. Without addison and her parents willing to listen for the first time it never would of happened. The new programming was part of the agreement.

Z patrol regularly control zband malfunctions with controlled shocks before the unification and new IT system involvement in zombietown. Members of the town would have to willingly turn into the patrol and consent to shockings.

Zombie containment: Individualized quarantine cells with disinfection mist. Removal of zbands (this leads to the painful transition of full loss of control, even having one on offline is more helpful than the complete removal). Observation for a few hours without. Reapplication (reneedle punctures to the wrist to deliver the medication) of the z bands. A few more hours of solitary observation. Guarded home for the next 24 hours.

Holds permanent scarring and numbness near his wrist from the hack in zombies 1.

He first befriended Eliza when she was 6 and was yelling at guards near the border. One of the men lifted a baton to silence her and Zed stepped in the way to protect her. After that he made sure he was always there when she wanted to speak out, even more fiercely after his mothers death.

Bonzo was a fast friend since birth, Zed’s family line is one of the last remaining branches that still speak zombie and therefore the only ones to understand bonzo. (I HC as an orphaned zombie who got through the border to the uncontrolled zone, his parents are out there, thats why he cant speak. He has the same last name as eliza because her family took him in)

Hes ADHD, has a lot of issues in normal school keeping up and paying attention to classes. Always thinking about the next big thing. Struggles with a busy mind and calming down (there are no medications available to zombie anatomy). He is often found in the light gardens to think or relax.

Hes obsessed with vanilla ice cream. Fave food.

Zombietown has special showering technology (prev just chemically changed water and soap) to stop body decay.

A lot of zombies are talented scrappers and welders. (he is NOT, hes great at starting accidental fires)

Z-band updates: wifi, ability to control zombification, ability to appear more human overtime (pigmentation of skin)

Strong believer in after the ordeal in z4 zed had to stay in a quarantined living space where the electrostatic impulses were consistently delivered through speakers around and the meds were given with injection periodically and he couldn’t see anyone without a glass separation because they had to have his system not have a zband for awhile or Or he’s in a medically induced coma state for recovery and body reset because his body began rejecting regular food for organic matter (Boys messed with his band more than any zombie in history apparently so like give me the consequences)

Zed and addy can’t have kids naturally. Zeds body is technically dead so he’s unable to have kids unless it’s with another zombie (somehow the matching anatomy works apparently I gotta science a reason later) I think he feels horrible about it because she’s definitely very motherly and should be a mom

Zeds coloration change from Z3 to Z4 is due to stress. He was slightly leaning human in Z3 vs the huge change when we hit z4. I think that college is not as accepting as they all originally thought and hes going through a ton of issues with racism and segregation in the classroom and on the field all over again. If hes also on a football scholarship than it makes sense why his coach was so pressure focused on him.
